Nice use of “y’all,” to distance yourself from yankee ilk

I can’t understand either why people choose to live there. What benefits do you get with the extra taxes you pay?

I don’t understand why a lot of people live where they live. I avoid the problems by just not living there myself.

You don’t grasp the concept of family and work, for starters?

Exactly. I don’t live up in NE, but I have a lot of friends that do. My first airline was in BOS. It’s a great area.

The beauty of this job/career field is you can live wherever you want. I commute from where I was born and raised in the Midwest. Couldn’t be any happier.

Maybe heavily populated areas like New York or Boston have people who grew up there that want to reside there. Also if you’re based in EWR for example, it’s probably easy to make extra money to offset those taxes when they start running a 3 hour GDP every week 😁

I've lived in Jersey my whole life and love it. I honestly don't notice the taxes, except the property taxes, but places like Texas are about the same. I live in the northern half, the better half. You're in the middles of the best culture in the country. I'm 1 hour from Manhattan, 1.5 from Philly. We have the shore, mountains in the north, vast pine forest in the south, tons of farm land. We have some of the better schools in the country and a highly educated population and a high concentration of high paying professional jobs. I travel around the country and the only other place I could live would maybe be the mountain west (Denver, maybe SLC or Vegas). I love California but the cost of housing is out of control. Jersey is still surprisingly reasonable unless you want a big house in certain areas.

EWR base? Left seat might go to newhires.

I actually like the area but that commute can be soul crushing.
