not when scheduling doesn’t follow any of the reserve bucket system or their own “procedures”

Two separate issues. If it’s a non contractual reserve assignment, there is a process for that

If it’s a senior reserve pilot who sits home because junior pilots with the same RAP availability for the month are getting called first, that’s called “seniority”.

While I agree with you, our reserve system sucks. You are better off shaking a magic 8 ball to get any idea if you will be used or not. Just one new guys opinion.

Then I guess everything has changed since I was on reserve.

I saw how many days I had left available, saw how many senior to me had that number and how many junior had that number. If a trip came in that matched my RAP, I would make sure the junior guy got it with the same RAP. 2 occasions they called me and tried to tag me with a trip that should have gone to the junior pilot, I told them, they apologized and I went back on my reserve and they contacted that pilot.

Not liking our reserve assignment methodology, I can see why junior reserve pilots would hate it.

Not knowing the assignment methodology? It’s in the contract. Know it and hold them accountable to it. If they violate it, it’s an NCC.

There needs to be some improvements on the reserve side, for sure. Calling to be released is ridiculous and is a waste of time for both sides. Taking out of base reserves and sticking them on DH on both ends to cover another base is ridiculous as well, especially since the contract doesn’t address seniority in this situation.

How is seniority not addressed for those situations? If you are reserve DFW and scheduling creates a trip to get you to LAS to cover a trip and DH back, that trip still needs to be assigned out of your base in contractual order.

Why would the company want to draft XY list to cover a trip in LAS if they can build a trip with the dozens of unused reserves in DFW to cover the trip? Most of the time you can get released from the DH back to base and commute to your home, if you commute
