your commute depends largely on where you commute from. I am ORD based and the commute is pretty easy from MEM. DTW is a much tougher commute. Lines are pretty good both places for commuters, 4 day trips mostly. As far as growing or shrinking, not sure. they both seem to be holding steady.

You must be trolling. If you’re on OE you have access to bid awards and plenty of information from the training house. Taking a wild guess I’d say you’d start off on reserve. You can bid for days off and RAP periods but as it turns out we have a seniority system in place. Darn it!

Maybe at some point but before that happens I can see them announcing at least 2 new bases like BWI/EWR and IAH. The only fact I can tell you is that NK really likes LAX and we keep it growing despite the obvious gate constraints.

Ignore this guy/gal obvious grumpiness, someone clearly ****ed in their cereal this morning.

To your question, while I am not based in either I have done some reserve time in ORD and it seemed like they had a lot of early morning flights for reserve. I remember doing almost exclusively the 5am ORD-CUN-FLL run. Overnight in FLL and operate or DH back to ORD on day 2. I wouldn't say they used me a ton, but I was used at least once each reserve trip. DTW I have only heard things, but the guys I know there seem to like it with a good mix of flying. I have heard it refereed to NK's best kept secret in terms of flying/crews.

Good luck and welcome to NK.

How’s the crew environment? Do pilots and FAs stay together on a 3 day trip or split up like some other airlines?

95% of our overnights are different hotels. You don’t keep the same FAs more than a day typically

there are unicorns every once in a while….

had a 4 day trip where we kept the same flight attendants and the same aircraft for four days and we stayed together as a crew in the same layover hotel all 3 nights.

it was like being at the regionals again and it was a party at the pool every night. got intimate and personal with one of the FAs who caught my eye with a smoking body. He was a fire fighter before he retired and became a flight attendant.

but that’s not the typical experience at all.
