I’m right there with ya! If only I could’ve interviewed a month earlier..I’d have likely gotten a class date 😩

We are still presumptively manned for 30 319s that are parked. We would have to bring those out or get 320s to replace them to justify running new hire classes, plus training folks as they return from leaves.

Now I’d be updating my app and doing anything else to be in the first group, whenever that is.

Those 30 319s might be the SKBO crew base aircraft tomorrow. Who knows?

Not exactly. With everything that happened this year we will still have taken delivery of 12 new 320s in 2020. 16 more coming in 2021 loaded heavily towards the second half of the year. Without the 319s it is kind of a wash. Now, if they bring back some of the 319s we will need to hire more I am thinking. Spirit owns all the 319s so they are a perfect tool to use to manage our flight volume. If demand stays low, keep them parked. If demand comes back at all, well, so do the 319s

69fastback 11-29-2020 05:42 PM

All the 319s aren’t parked anymore. I took one out of storage last week and took it to FLL where it was being returned to service.

Tjamaica 11-29-2020 05:47 PM

That is probably a good sign

Word was that was an operational spare for the Thanksgiving weekend.

I think we are still gate constrained in a number of places. I know I’m pretty ****ed at ORD for suddenly finding room for WN despite telling us that there were no gates.

Honestly, if I didn’t think half of the WN/NK pax will invariably end up at the wrong airport, I’d demand three to five gates at MDW at the point of another federal lawsuit.

Another ORD hustle, which is unsurprising considering it’s a less well run version of Burundi.

At least there is political pluralism in Burundi and the asset to debt ratio is controllable.

Time to drop the waiver and go back to use it or lose it on the slots and gates.

Im pretty certain, WN is simply sub leasing Terminal 5 gate(s) from a defunct International carrier who are no longer serving ORD.

That is a lot different than being awarded gates from the Airport Authority. F9 is doing the same thing as well.

I’m honestly am curious to what AA and UA said to the airport authority about SWA getting gates.

Not surprising we couldn't get more gates and SWA did. They were probably happy to pay for them, were as we probably wanted to pay a bargain price.

T5 is all common use gates. None are “assigned” per say

So there you have it, from the call...no new hire classes budgeted for 2021. "Things can change"...but as of now, no new hires for 2021.

Round of applause for everyone that wanted the question answered on whether or not we can have beards. What was that the 3rd question? Great use of a town hall.

Probably the best question I’ve ever heard on these town halls.

I’d take that over..

“What’s our cash burn”
“What’s our estimated load factor”
“Will we furlough in June 2021”
“WiFi” stupid stupid WiFi

Haha. Yeah, who cares?

“Are we getting A220s”. We have planes parked in the desert and new planes coming we don’t have the demand to fly. We won’t even spend cash on new iPads, but sure, let’s ask about a new fleet type.

No, the question that should of been asked. “Is a Miata a sports car?” I really want to know once and for all.

There is only one answer to that question, but I’d be curious what our management believes is their definition of a sports car....

It would have to be sexy in a non gender specific way. Possibly have a transmission or just a non binary single speed linear control. Be painted in many colors to reflect the diverse melting pot that is the sports car. Have a horn that uses a special non offensive note. Of course be braless. And the pop up headlights would have non gender specific makeup to enhance but not identify.

But can you go "topless" in it? That's really the most important part.

Some on here never had the opportunity to know Jyri, our old VP of Flt Ops who was part of the early negotiations for the 2018 CBA. He said something essentially that “if you want to drive a Mercedes, go to United. If you’re ion driving a Kia, stay at Spirit”

Hopefully someone remembers the quote better, but the Miata talk just flashed me back to that tool. God he is a tool, with the haircut to match

Yeah, it was something along those lines. He also offered to write a recommendation for anyone who wanted to go somewhere else but never actually would. YUUUGGEE tool.

Miss that guy! His attitude toward the pilot group, how he was so above us, and his general inappropriate behavior/comments at the negotiating table!!

Where is he now? Canada? India??? Avenger???

Yeah, I was wondering what word to use instead. In my defense, English is my third language.
:p (I definitely make enough!)(not negotiating in public, just in reference to my writing capabilities..)

Harvard Divinity School or Hawaii Dental Service?
Totally okay with being called a dork. It is a public forum. Most of us want to be compared to doctors and lawyers, not truck drivers and burger flippers. Knowing how to write and spell is one of the things that separates those groups.
I mean, seriously: "would of" and "per say"????
It is the same as showing up for work in our uniform and shaving.

I get what you're saying yet it seems there has been a slight shift when it comes to gauging a persons intelligence based on language. With auto correct these younguns don't have to know how to write. To bad it can't observe context very well. If there's not an app for something, the new generation is lacking. I've run into many very smart people that just can't seem to write for sh!t!! Its shocking to me how many boys today have no clue on how to swing a flippin hammer! Or change there own tire for that matter......
