Too early to tell. I mean this is basically an “on your honor” system. No one is going to have thousands of cops stationed outside of these peoples hotel rooms or homes.

I did a bunch of ORD-IAH in April when those people had to quarantine after arriving in Houston. Every week flights were more full than the last.

DrSteveBrule 06-25-2020 08:31 AM

Cruiselines pushing back another 3 months, casinos increasing mask requirements to always required, Disneyland will stay closed down, even friggin Myrtle is about to make a mask mandate. Not sure the latest events are going to convince people to buy tickets, let alone buy fares at a profitable price. That's only going to serve to continue to keep fares at a price level that makes profit nearly impossible, without cuts from somewhere. It's nearly July and we're talking about half full flights to Orlando and NYC when the 550 hits. It's revenue. It's not enough revenue.

you just used a sidewalk on Ocean Blvd in Myrtle beach as a sample

think about that

MCDUmanipulator 06-26-2020 08:02 AM

Or I just went to sams and same thing. People aren’t wearing masks.

Anyone been around here long enough to remember the "2 Girls, 1 Seat" sale we briefly ran several years ago? Yes, that really happened.

or the 69th new airplane sale, telling everyone to use their mouths to spread the word of how great a position Spirit was in. Man, I used to love some of those ads.

I only remember "Many Islands, Low Fare"

Ahhh......the good ole days! We're a more respectable airline now!! My personal fav's:
regarding big front seats......"we'll give you an extra 6 inches"

during the Anthony Weiner scandal we had a "wiener sale"

and during the LAS opening we had strippers on poles on the back of a truck bed going up and down the strip with a billboard behind them that read "take me home for $9.00"!!

week 11-23-2020 04:55 PM

Don’t shoot the messenger, was in training last week and was told a ‘rumor’ they’re not planning any hiring in 2021, but are prepared to ramp up to full speed any time they will need to.

Sounds like it’s all up to demand. If they don’t have to hire more to staff summer 2021, they likely won’t need to hire until they need to staff summer 2022.

just a rumor, praying I’m completely wrong

I’ll volunteer for more EIL beyond June I’d it helps 😬

CincoDeMayo 11-24-2020 08:00 AM

From the email, those of us on longer EILs will have a warmup and PC when coming back. Would like to see another sim in there to shake the dust off. Warm up and PC is canned so it’s not a great representation of getting into “game shape”. I’ll be ready to come back in April, that’s for sure. Makes me realize I’m not ready to retire and might actually like this flying gig I got.

Im not sure what email you are talking about. However Im 100% sure back when this all started they said those on EILs would be given two warm ups to address the issue of being off for so long. this wasnt in writing at the time as far as I know, it was just something someone said on one of the phone meetings we could listen to. Whether or not that came to be true, idk. But I definitely recall it being said by someone.

“Deep state” email from the union

In all seriousness...MEC Chairman’s update email had ittoday. No mention of extra sims.

Enjoy your time off, it’s not fun at work right now. I went back after being off for several months and couldn’t stand being there.

Yeah, I doubt we’ll be seeing extra sims. Cost prohibitive. Best you can do is study hard and hope for a reasonable CKA that can see the difference between incompetence and rust.

You get to park at terminal parking, walk straight into the airport with no lines and be at your gate in 10 minutes or less. No lines for coffee, no crowds, easy flights, with exception to the occasional difficult anti masker, and few red eyes. If you get randomed, there are no lines at TSA Pre check. When you land, you get to deplane into no crowds and go straight to your car at terminal parking. DHs and commuting are easy because nothing is full. Form your own opinion 😉

DTW does not have terminal parking. We ride the short yellow bus.

As you filthy DTW pilots should...lol

I have been buying terminal parking for a year or so prior to the RonaDemic. Life is too short at this stage of my life and career to spend it on the employee ghetto mobile. If I was working at the Terminal D Starbucks, then yeah...but I don't.

Going have to take the other side on this one. Terminal in DTW has had barely any accommodations during Covid. There are no lines at Starbucks because they aren’t open (see Vegas Starbucks closing early whenever they see fit). Orlando has ended their princess parking and like mentioned DTW never had it, among others. Commuting has been more difficult to gauge on airlines like SWA and DAL due to middle seats being blocked. And from my perspective, the airports have been crowded. I could go on but I am truly thankful to be employed. That being said, I would trade all of the perks you mentioned to get the industry back to where it was in 2019.

Just passing through but thought I'd share some updates on commuting with Delta.

There is a new internal policy making it easier to calculate seats available. This also makes the numbers more accurate online (DeltaNet, Staff Traveler, etc.).

With the recent LOA passage, positive space commuting starts in December and runs for at least 13 months. Jumpseats should be easier to find.

Masks are now required for all jumpseaters.

That is all, bye bye now. Happy Thanksgiving!

Happy Thanksgiving to all. As others have said we have much to be thankful at spirit airlines. I raise a toast to all who took EIL and saved many jobs in 2020.

Oh yeah, don’t forget about that thing called a vaccine. You know, the one that was developed in record time with much red tape removed from the process and billions spent by this administration.
Because the mask thing really helped 🙄.

Dont insult the people actually doing the work on creating a vaccine by using the term Science. That word has been tainted by the virtue-signaling liberal socialist crowd.

Yeah, well when you have half the country listening to the scientists and the other half listening to Trump’s all knowing stable genius advice, no, the masks won’t work so well.
