We have to stay within 60 minutes, there are always diversionary alternates listed on the OFP. Whether people pay attention to that and build the appropriate equal time points is another matter. The issue is we got these OPSPECs but there was no training until some people messed it up, then we got a PowerPoint presentation to review as our training. I’m sure people are still messing it up but it’s not that hard once you’ve read the materials. I had a CA refuse to do the SLOP offset and didn’t really give a decent reason. I’m assuming he didn’t know what it was or how to program it.
THIS is the exact reason I post this video...most people are ignorant of it (not their fault) but sure you can say “I don’t care, the company should properly train me” but you are still going to fly it you better know what the heck you are doing.

Also, after you check-in with New York you can turn the volume down so you don’t hear the static...if they need you they will call you...That’s why they do a Sel call check eveytime you check-in with them.

no...all about saving that money on training I guess.
well to be fair, they teach us how to do a SEL call check on OE as a new hire and captain. But other than that no. Our WATRS route is pretty new for us.
If you think that is funny, you should see the way some of us Spirit pilots dress.
...and to think we want Delta pay rates...

Didn’t know you should SLOP on the WATRS, but then again I’ve only flown those tracks like 4 or 5 times.
However on the NATS (now referred to as the North Atlantic HLA) I would put 0, 1, 2 on a sheet of paper in a hat and have the guy I’m flying with pick one. That’s what I would SLOP.
Not much else to talk about except remembering to take the offset out before you exit.

NAT SLOP is no longer just 1 or 2 NM. You’re free to select anything from zero to 2NM
example... 0.1, 0.2, 0.3.....1.0, 1.1, 1.2.......1.8, 1.9, 2.0
Of course your company policy needs to have been updated to match the ICAO change.

There will always be guys that are too cheap to dry clean once in a while, or too crazy to care about their appearance in general.
The few Iv run into who dress like a slob, are also on my list to avoid since they were awful to fly with as well. Funny how that is usually a commonality. These are the same guys who dont tip van drivers, are rude to almost everyone, lose their temper fast and fly like an idiot.
