Not being able to manipulate your days off post award
Limited premium flying opportunities
no assurance of reserve period despite seniority
commute to reserve vs trips
can’t swap with open for preferred layover cities, soft credit, more commutable, etc
long call converted to short call
flying the awful orphan trips leftover, or cobbled together Frankenstein pairings like double deadhead layover, one leg, layover, deadhead home and no hotel/transport booked
getting called out on a holiday because a line holder short calls sick
Sure there are people here who talk about how easy reserve life is here, but it’s largely anecdotal.

agreed I don’t know what all the beef is about rsv these days. If you commute it sucks but that’s always been the case. No float vacation and rap roulette are major issues though bc some raps do get used a lot more

Former Evergreen 747 driver. Upgrade is going down to 2 years. Once in the left seat at our pay scales, you won’t regret it.
Next contract even more pay. Quality of life can’t be beat. Management is extremely supportive and friendly.
Best career move I’ve made. My 401K just keeps getting bigger faster than I could have imagined.
I know it sounds terrible. Maybe hold out for A legacy.

NK is a good place to work but it ain’t the supportive and friendly place this guy says. just to be devil’s advocate....this place very much has the skeletons
of our old CEO all over it. Mgmt steps over dollars to save a nickel in almost every aspect of the operation. Crew scheduling can’t figure out the flight attendants cba is not the same as ours. In training you’re going to be packed like a sardine with FA in the hallway screaming their call outs. Our passengers generally suck and have no common decency. When you deadhead you’re going to see the filthy planes and lavs (and gum chewing selfie snapping gate agents) the passengers have to deal with which goes a long way to harden the belief we are low tier.
The only reason this place is any good is the training department goes above and beyond to do a good job and Sandy has some magic wand that weeds out the jack wipes and manages to hire people that are good to fly with. And the pay is livable.

Wow. I would say this is from Jyri but I hear he’s too busy to be lurking here.

With the first post being a tad overly rosy and the second being wildly inaccurate, I think it's safe to say that reality is meeting somewhere in the middle of these two perspectives.

Yep pretty much this is spot on. I’m not sure where everyone is getting the yellow flavored Kool-Aid around here but don’t drink it. Is this the worst place in the world to work? No. But it certainly isn’t this rosy picture some guys paint.

Sure, I agree with that part. But in general it's not as bad, or conversely on the other end, not as good as pilots make it out to be on these forums. For instance, we have the same passenger drama of every other pax airline. That problem is not unique to spirit.

Now it may seem to some that I was complaining but I am not. And if guys would stop drinking the juice around here and being so grateful it’s better than their regional we could make some real gains.

This. Our last contract is a product of the “better then my regional” mentality.
