For delaying your bid for 5 days, the pilots gained pay protection if you test positive for the coronavirus. As mentioned here, in this case the pay would come out of your sick bank until you tested positive. The potential for the company to have to pay even 10 pilots outside of their sick bank for testing positive is extremely low.

The pilots would have a lot of schedule changes sure, however, check the reduction in lines for each base. I could only see my base but I will compare the two numbers when the new line count is posted on the 12th. What was given up was a larger percentage of pilots having lines and then being pulled or rescheduled from that flying while still maintaining their original guarantee. In some instances, extra rescheduling pay may have even applied to some of these pilots.

Now, you will have more reserves and more 72 hour guarantees. The benefit from the company received by the pilots will likely never even be seen. It's just free insurance awarded to you that you will likely never have to put a claim against.

I agree! This likely won’t affect the people who agreed to this MOU. It’s good insurance for them.

Give a pilot a bar of gold and he/she will complain about the weight. While some are worrying about a potential slowdown in hiring-- or worse-- others are upset they don't get some free money as flights get axed. Please stop.

Everyone remember that a rising tide lifts all boats.

So let’s say that 1/10th of 1% of pilots got sick.

.001 X 2500 = 2.5 pilots

average their salary between captain and FO

215+115/2= 165

Figure guarantee 72 hours for 6 months

165 x 72 x 6 = $71,280 x 2.5 pilots = $178,200

178,200 / 2500 pilots ~ $71.28 per pilot

Vs. how much would cash would they have had to pay each of us to put a lot more guys on a reduced line in April.

Wow, great mantra for anything contract related. “Well, ______ has it worse, just be grateful.”

Or they could just tell the union off and delay loading the pairings into PBS, drag it out for 9 months knowing they will go to arbitration and lose and the day before the arbitration settle for pennies on the dollar and we don’t see any benefit. I don’t know what more you expect from this. We aren’t going to hold them hostage and get profit sharing over delaying the schedule by 5 days.

It’s insurance. We all pay for insurance in our life. In exchange for 5 days every pilot had insurance now to pay the bills IF anyone one of us gets this junk and won’t have to worry about money and can instead, worry about getting better.

It’s not like the company wasn’t going to take the 5 day’s anyway. They would have took the days and we would have had to sent it to arbitration. And it does nobody on this list any good to not allow the company to trim when necessary so we can not take a larger loss than necessary on these flights.

This is hitting the airlines right at the start of their most profitable time of year and a simple 5 days to help get stuff in line, while giving each pilot insurance, is fair for all sides.

Nice to see a pragmatist on here. You are absolutely correct. Some people get in their echo chamber and just scream at the walls for everything that they don’t like, whatever their reasons might be
