What people seem to fail to understand is that the virus did not collapse the economy, the government did. The words being used on the public are carefully chosen by those writing and speaking them, to create a narrative that the public has a common enemy which is the virus, and the only way to combat it is through mass life-altering decisions by those in power. travel was steady even with the virus going on, demand didn’t suddenly vanish, in fact demand is still high with people wanting to go places, but they are prevented from doing so because the government has shut everything down. The government isn’t a god, and therefore this should’ve qualify as an act of god causing furloughs.
Though I’m sure it’s a losing argument.

Having said that I hope that furlough pay is protected while kinda doubting it will be.

My point is, this is YOUR perception.... How many of WDW’s visitors are from overseas (who don’t watch our ‘skewed’ media)?? How safe will they feel here? Can they even get here? Rhetorical questions, just amused that people in this country think it’s all about them...

Our CBA doesn’t say anything about an act of god. It says “circumstance over which the company does not have control”.
From Spirit’s 2019 annual report:
“Airlines are often affected by factors beyond their control, including: air traffic congestion at airports; air traffic control inefficiencies; major construction or improvements at airports; adverse weather conditions, such as hurricanes or blizzards; increased security measures; new travel related taxes or the outbreak of disease, any of which could harm our business, operating results and financial condition.
...
Similarly, outbreaks of pandemic or contagious diseases, such as Ebola, measles, avian flu, severe acute respiratory syndrome (SARS), H1N1 (swine) flu, Zika virus and Coronavirus, could result in significant decreases in passenger traffic and the imposition of government restrictions in service and could have a material adverse impact on the airline industry.
”
I would bet the company’s position is that they are not obligated to provide furlough pay.
