I would bet the company’s position is that they are not obligated to provide furlough pay.
so really anything is beyond the company’s control. With that statement there would never be a time they would have to pay. I mean just a simple downturn in the economy would be beyond the company’s control. Really any reason to furlough is.

okay let’s ask this the other way around. Let’s list some examples when they company would have to pay.

Say they got a really sweet offer from airline “x” for 15 320’s. They take it and make some cash on the deal. Now they have to furlough crews because they are over staffed. That would do it. But you may as well look for unicorns to get furlough pay. Not many circumstances that could force that

Though I’m sure it’s a losing argument.
It is interesting to see how quickly politics is thrown into the mix. This statement is right up there with “guns don’t kill people”. I’m pretty sure that none of us have PhDs in science (or political science for that matter). It would serve us better to leave this type of blame game philosophy out of arguments.

It probably would also be better for theists to stop writing legal matter since “an act of god” only applies to them.

How is his statement wrong though?

I don't have a PhD, so I don't get an opinion.

Sometimes I wear a really clean lab coat just so I can be awed by my underlings.

I wonder about the guys and gals who keep trying to shutdown commentary because pilots aren’t experts in <insert subject here>. It must be awfully quiet on their flight decks save for airplane conversations.

Some of the biggest morons I've ever met had PhD's. Not to mention one professor that was an open anti semite and another that would bash the United States every lecture. Taught me a valuable lesson. Made me want to scrape my skin off after every class.

Professors are as weird as they come. I have a few that live in my neighborhood. Every HOA meeting they make stupid liberal comments. It’s like there just pandering to impress people.

It's very important for academics to parrot each other properly and never challenge each other's 'findings'.

That way they can keep their government subsidized gravy train rolling.
