What transpired? No concessions?

Well done MEC and the pilot group!

They company get to push our monthly bidding timeline by 5 days and we got our ability to drop reserve days again until May of 2021. I think the amount of pilots who took EIL / VIL made the difference

CLE to IAH 08-24-2020 04:59 PM

Thank you to every person that made this possible. Any captain that took EIL VIL will drink free on my trips.

first year pay be darned.

Jimdunbar 08-24-2020 05:04 PM

Just hold the fort down, that’ll be sufficient. Peace out for the next 9 months

FivepointSlow 08-24-2020 05:08 PM

There was also a large amount of people doing voluntary displacement to base swap for the $$$ which could have contributed to the change.

Tranquility 08-24-2020 05:26 PM

My hat’s off to the MEC and negotiating committee for getting this done! Well done SPA ALPA!

HUGE gain that we had in C2010!

Chimpy 08-24-2020 05:37 PM

Reserve drops !!!!!!!!!

BeechedJet 08-24-2020 05:38 PM

Best news I’ve seen all year. I really gotta hand it to the Union. Good job you all.

Meep 08-24-2020 05:40 PM

So happy we’re joining the list of airlines that aren’t furloughing. Hope more airlines can add themselves to the list

John Carr 08-24-2020 05:44 PM

Good job guys, hope my shop can at last minimize the damage.

Lobaeux 08-24-2020 05:45 PM

Now hopefully the rest of the airlines follow suit and we see no furloughs! And as Chimpy said, Reserve Drops!

In today’s environment I feel like it was a win for us and them. They save when people drop rsv days now. In the past it cost them because it created short staffing and x/y events so they didn’t want it.

The bidding timeline was worth $1.3 million a month. $1200/mo per pilot.

Happy with the results.

How does the company monetize the change in the bidding timeline by $1200/mo per pilot? Help me understand please.

Just guessing here but a later bid window allows the company to cancel flights at a later date without having pay protected pilots on them. Last minute scheduling to meet demand.

Never mind. I figured it out. That’s what we got per pilot as compensation when the company delayed the bidding.

Good for you guys. You also did it without concessions.

V1 McFlyerson 08-24-2020 09:37 PM

You guys should be proud. F9 got a steaming loaf that isn’t going to mitigate much if any -not furloughed-but-actually-furloughed pilots.

And to top it off the company gets to unleash pbs for December. The joke is that your NK flight attendants got a better deal than we did.

skigambia 08-24-2020 09:39 PM

This is fantastic news! Congratulations to the MEC for doing an incredible job in this incredibly unique time. In addition, a huge thanks and appreciation to the management team at Spirit. I have been at the negotiating table during talk of staff reductions and the EIL, and VIL options in addition to the cancelling of 100+ furloughs is a true testiment to managements commitment to our pilot group. I don't usually sing managements praises, but they really stepped up and deserve our thanks and appreciation!

TurboFan 08-24-2020 11:25 PM

ALPA and management both deserve HUGE props for making this happen. I have been nothing short of impressed with how this COVID situation has been handled by both parties. Thank you! For the first time in my 15 year airline career, I feel like I’m being treated like the professional I am.

As someone said earlier, keep the wheels turning boys and girls, I’ll be back next year. [emoji1365]

Really though, huge thanks to the senior guys who took EIL/VILs.

Very cool gentlemen! Nice to hear some good news out there.

haha! Yes, just have become more of an observer than active participant.

Truly an amazing achievement. Thanks to ALPA, EIL/VIL takers, and the company for making this happen.

my previous airline would have refused to even meet with ALPA, furloughed whoever they wanted with 2 weeks notice, and edited the reduction bid results so they would pay less involuntary moving costs without batting an eye.

so thankful to be part of this group:D

Haha. Yeah, the training department has already seen some of us after a few months of VIL and unused LCR....so they know we will need some extra time for the longer EIL

JaJaDingDong 08-25-2020 09:13 AM

Where this info comin from? I see the reduction canceled but I haven't received any notification from the union regarding an MOU.

lowandslow 08-25-2020 09:21 AM

We got a union email last night. If you didn’t check your ALPA contact info.

Odd. My info is correct and I've never not received a union email.

bruhaha 08-25-2020 02:54 PM

Or if your alpa email contact is your company email you might not get it either as IT filters the union email straight to the junk folder sometimes.

Company email = ALPA email

No bueno.

JaJaDingDong 08-25-2020 03:27 PM

I figured it out. Out of the blue my email provider flagged ALPA as a spam risk and wasn't even allowing the email to be delivered. Was getting emails just fine for years up until this one. Thanks

sMFer 08-25-2020 08:18 PM

Bravo guys!

Any communication to/from union needs to be from a different email than company provided one.

airbus707 08-26-2020 09:44 AM

A huge well done to ALPA and management. I hope this paves the way for massive success.

They’ve got my vote. I’ll do my part to
make this company successful, gladly.
