Going for the throat on one or both. I guess FLL was maxed out in utilization?

Looks like just over 30 departures per day, that’s at least 2-3 gates

I remember before they said MIA was not an option because of the landing costs and the connection time issues from international flights.

So curious what changed?! Did Miami get cheaper to land or is Teddy spending that free Gov money on landing fees

Found this:

Spirit is the fourth low-cost carrier to announce its launch or expansion from MIA recently, following JetBlue, Frontier Airlines and Southwest Airlines. Previously, the company considered MIA’s per-use fees for gates to be too expensive. But during the pandemic, the airport opened up more gates for what’s called preferred-use, offering a fixed fee for airlines that maintain a certain number of flights from the airport per day, And that enticed Spirit, Kirby said.

My old regional had a co-base for a little bit. Had to have a full LOA created for it. In it you couldn't start at one and end at the other. I'm sure something like this would come if we were to officially announce a co-base.
