Oh, that's a fun approach. I was Newark based at my last airline so I did that approach many times. I did it in the Bus for the first time a few weeks ago. I actually kinda showed the captain how to do it. It's really not a hard approach at all and not a terribly short runway. Just use medium autobrake and don't float in the flare.
Same with the river visual into DC or express way visual into LGA. Once you’ve done it a few times it isn’t hard. I think that’s the issue here. Most pilots flying up there haven’t ever done it before. |
Or folks could just read their read files and union email and they’d know how to do it and what not to do.

I think it’s more of a liability thing. That way when the captain runs one off into the EMAS they can tell the insurers and the FAA they tried everything they could to avoid this. |
