But hey, look how much the company is going to save on hotel expense. They just pass that expense to the pilot to enhance the "career".
If that's what it turns into you can count me out.

Instead of panicking and making stuff up, why don’t we just wait and see how it shakes up?

You know, they might have just kicked the idea around with the pilot group to see what sort of reception this got before they decided to implement it. I believe in the ULCC business model but the model is scarcely bulletproof. When you shoot it in the foot you are going to hobble it for a long long time…

because that would make APC a boring place to visit.

That noise you hear is about 100 dfw pilots going to united this spring. The promise of a Houston base is fading….

It's hard to hear over the 200 or so West coast pilots.

Man a lot of panic here.

first off, in the current hiring environment, I’m surprised anyone commutes for this place. If you’re going to (unwisely) commute for a career, there are plenty of options such as legacies or moving to base.

living In base, this news seems like a dream come true. Living in base here is already a dream come true. The quality of life is insane. Even when I barely had the seniority to hold a line, I just drop it all to zero and fly 200% trips and maybe a couple high-credit day trips, which I’ll also drop if the 200% pours in. Home in my own bed 28+ days a month crediting well over 100, routinely.

For some people, like those who live in spirit bases (particularly the FL bases), this is the best airline on the planet to be at, and this email only sweetens that deal. Not to mention the staffing this summer will have the X-list phone calls going nonstop.

Just trying to shed a little positive light, I’m aware that doing so is illegal on APC. We have such a pleasant/happy pilot group sometimes I wonder if it’s a different group of people on these forums

It’s nice to see a positive light. I start at the end of the month with the intention of making Orlando home, and it’s hard to be THRILLED about it when everyone on here is so negative.

Coming from a regional, anything Spirit has to offer is a massive improvement. Add onto that the QOL of living in base (which I hope we keep), and I might not ever want to leave!

Living in base really is key to truly calling it having a “good quality of life”. IMHO if you’re a commuter you are also enjoying quality of life by choice but merely due to the fact that you choose to live where you want. Your job life is not easier so quality of life is a different concept. More day trips will reduce this even further.

Fact check

x list is no guarantee. X list is by seniority and x list hours accrued. Zero guarantee x list calls will even happen on a day off as well. I have listed for x list on days off and received zero calls. This can all be audited by the share point website.

You cannot plan your pay or credit on x list guarantee. Also, As new hires are released to the line they will get all X list calls first as they have “ zero” x list hours. And 120 new hire FO’s a month results in less x list calls for the senior FO’s looking to make some bank as your fellow new hire FO’s are ready to make some
bank after unpaid training.

just pointing out the facts. Dropping to zero and picking up x list is zero guarantee. Have to literally sit by your phone 24/7.

better to have a cba that actually pays pilots versus waiting eagerly to fly any overtime trip to still make 40 percent less then a legacy pilot
