Man a lot of panic here.

first off, in the current hiring environment, I’m surprised anyone commutes for this place. If you’re going to (unwisely) commute for a career, there are plenty of options such as legacies or moving to base.

living In base, this news seems like a dream come true. Living in base here is already a dream come true. The quality of life is insane. Even when I barely had the seniority to hold a line, I just drop it all to zero and fly 200% trips and maybe a couple high-credit day trips, which I’ll also drop if the 200% pours in. Home in my own bed 28+ days a month crediting well over 100, routinely.

For some people, like those who live in spirit bases (particularly the FL bases), this is the best airline on the planet to be at, and this email only sweetens that deal. Not to mention the staffing this summer will have the X-list phone calls going nonstop.

Just trying to shed a little positive light, I’m aware that doing so is illegal on APC. We have such a pleasant/happy pilot group sometimes I wonder if it’s a different group of people on these forums :D

Go take a look at the snapshot of the x/y assignments. Almost all are FO. Take a look at some of the CA using your strategy. Very few and even then if you average their credit out on a monthly basis they aren’t making guarantee sometimes. Premium is very seat and base dependent. Many of us have seen plenty of long periods where there is no premium for anyone. Also a grid that turns red as soon as IOT is is closed. Enjoy those weekend 10hr three days that you can’t get rid of when that time comes again. You’re living in a fairy tale based on a single point in history. The reality check will come. You don’t make career decisions because you think you can drop everything for your entire career and ever more nutty thinking you’ll just magically get 200% pay trips on your empty schedule.

This^! FO red/green in base is ALL red! Good luck dropping after IOT. CA side on the other hand is all green by a lot, minus 1 day that is barely red. X list for CA’s is almost non existent in my base, unless you give up having a normal life. Kudos to the guys that do and need to live off the X list!

What bases are new hires getting lately?

With everything going on, how long to get DFW or LAS?

Thanks

Minus all the junior LAS FOs that are about to get the boot to Florida.

You mean the LAS guys hired a month ago? They haven’t even seen the inside of a sim yet.

How quickly is one able to get ACY as a new hire? Is it fairly junior? Thanks!

I would guess by the time you finished IOE.

Is it bad? It’s pretty neutral on the CA side between those coming and going based on the what ifs.

The last “what if” has 2 ACY and 5 LAS going to people still in training.
