Early openers start 6 months prior to amendable date. That was decided during last round of negotiations I believe.

Thats the earliest it can open. So it seems the 6th is the first availability they have on their (managements) schedule to sit down and pass openers. Bendo is also doing some hard hitting FA negotiations too (sarcasm).
