Hey all, I’ve noticed Spirit folks discussing dropping their schedules. I’d agree that is a nice feature of your CBA.
My question is, what limitations are there on it? Surely all the pilots can’t just drop their entire schedules, so what are the mechanics and requirements to drop trips? At JBLU we have to have adequate reserve coverage or trade to another pilot.
thx

The way to look at it is that most pilots that drop their whole schedules dont just sit around and not work, they pick trips back up again that they like or want from opentime which allows them to be home more. So its really a way to improve your schedule. The bad trips that get dropped just sit there and go to the reserves or X/Y list guys that want 200% For awhile when I was junior I could only get 4 days, so i dropped my whole line and then just picked up day trips or 2 days. As long as the day is green you can drop. Heck, tomorrow and Fri have green days (FLL), i can drop my back to back day trips if I want to. Its a great thing to have.. We better keep this on our next JCBA

Exactly. Think there are 5 green days in June, none of which touch each other, at least in LAS. The ability to drop to zero is of no use to FO's out west as of now. Not saying I want to see it get removed, but its value is highly seat/base dependent.

Maybe not on Flica, but I believe you can call scheduling right now and say its green, please drop my turn.. i think they will. Not 100% sure about that part though since i never dropped the day before hahaha

Is it not contractual though that the month starts out as 75% green regardless of staffing?

That is of course not in LAS as no newhires go there.
