decided to give everyone a “raise” and change the PS formula so it’s like a claw machine. Sure it’s there
but good luck getting it. It was a huge mistake for them company morale wise. (Prior to our contract)
But if we do merge I want that PS back especially because it has been said our “elt” will never agree to it.

JB has had some very profitable years prior to COVID, and going into COVID had the second best balance sheet in the industry. They claim the balance sheet is improving and still near the top of the industry overall.
For the Afterburner guy, the notion that JB is seeking Spirit "to prevent NK+F9" more so than trying to grow and expand JB's reach is silly. Not going to waste my time debating that.
And Spirit did NOT prove that it can weather a financial storm better than other airlines. The ULCCs and JB are not profitable in Q2 2022, when most other big airlines are. They have recovered better than the ULCCs and JB. For JB's part, their large concentration in the NE hurt them first, hit them the hardest, and hurt them the longest as the NE responded to COVID more aggressively and for longer than the rest of the country generally. Now that is mostly behind us and I believe JB will claw it's way back into the pack financially, especially as the E190s are parked and they take more A220 deliveries.

Assuming projected becomes actual, F9 will have squeaked out a small profit when some of the big 4 report much larger proportional profits. Not exactly an endorsement of ULCC's surviving hard times better than legacy airlines.

If this model of ala carte, high density seating, and efficient aircraft flying to florida doesnt work in this new labor environment, too bad for management. Theyre gonna have to learn to deal with higher compensation or they will destroy their companies.
Sounds to me like the market may be rejecting the model.
I enjoy Baldanza's podcasts. This week they were pondering the idea that AALs 300% deal could possibly set a new benchmark for premium pay. If NK cant handle it, then we need a different model and different managers, because this is where labor is going. Delta makes over billion and we may post a loss. That doesnt sound like "among the first to return to profitability" to me.
