...........
............And Spirit did NOT prove that it can weather a financial storm better than other airlines. The ULCCs and JB are not profitable in Q2 2022, when most other big airlines are. They have recovered better than the ULCCs and JB. For JB's part, their large concentration in the NE hurt them first, hit them the hardest, and hurt them the longest as the NE responded to COVID more aggressively and for longer than the rest of the country generally. Now that is mostly behind us and I believe JB will claw it's way back into the pack financially, especially as the E190s are parked and they take more A220 deliveries.

Gross revenues and net profit are not the only thing that drives stock prices, which is why stock can soar for companies that have exactly zero dollars in earnings.
My college finance courses were over two decades ago, but even I know you can’t use a single metric to evaluate the performance of two companies in different ends of a sector.
Here’s what I do remember: a company’s quick ratio is defined as (quick assets/current liabilities) and for NK as of last quarter that equates to 1.44 and this means if Spirit sold off everything it would have $1.44 to every $1.00 of payments owed.
The valuation was obviously much more in depth, but the share price of NK was around $22 when B6 stepped in, multiply that quick ratio by the share price and you get roughly $32 a share. This gives a rough back of the napkin idea of how B6 arrived at the offer they have put forth, and it has little to do with NK profits.
