You don't get it. Pilots pay goes to top, guess what FAs want top pay, rampers, mechanics, etc. Overall labor bill is HUGE for any airline. I'm not not just talking about pilot pay. Total labor. Your business models thrives on lower costs which pretty much equals lower wages all around.

My guess is MEC thinks it comes up short. Sends it back to NC to go back to the table. We get no details today.

Come back to me in a few years when you have 100s of millions in merger expenses, labor through the roof and tell me how your profit sharing check is doing. You show you know nothing.

Because it can't sustain if your costs are the same. Simple. One main reason it works now because overall labor costs are low. If pilots get top pay, don't you think other work groups will want it and deserve it?? There goes business model.
No real dog in this fight. But, have you ever heard of Frank Lorenzo? Did I just age myself? For you youngsters, Frank Lorenzo was a very important man! Adored by some, loathed by most. With today’s pilot market his tactics would equal to “****ing into wind.” Don’t take my word for it. A little research will show that some Regional pilots are making something like $300k or even more! Do we think that their management found religion all of a sudden? Did they become lovers of labor all of a sudden? Or, could it be that they just can’t staff their pilot ranks? My theory is that for those that don’t wanna pay and play, they will eventually suffer the consequences via recruiting shortfalls and attrition. |

If this happens, no need sending the same negotiation group back.

This is premature. There is a well defined process for how this all works, and if the AIP is determined to not meet expectations then the NC will be sent back with updated parameters to negotiate to. Let’s not campaign to throw anyone under the bus with no information about what was on the table.
Agreed. The negotiation committee has boundaries set by the voting members of the MEC. They have zero authority to go lower on their own. |
