this isn’t the culture at all at Delta. Super chill, and ATL is getting better as the new blood is there and the old guys are retiring

I also wanted to add that the way things are currently if you do get a job offer at a major - chances are you'll be in a pool. The window of "23 year old b737 captains at United" is closed.

If you (hopefully not) do get furloughed again right now classes at Atlas are quite quick. If you have a family to support or want to guarantee your currency then do apply.

Who knows? You might find yourself enjoying freight or passenger or military charter.

And for the record - the story of "17 days on the road" at Atlas are as hyperbolic as the "when Spirit goes up, crime goes down" reputation.

Now there are split lines *seven on, seven off or ten on, ten off) and you can bid to have up to 17 days OFF. Depending on where you live you can even end up spending more of your working days at home!

You can choose to ignore this post but again I personally remember what it's like to be on a sinking ship (so to speak) and wished that someone had told me about other options earlier.

Good luck to you.

I think for the kid that was hired at 1500 hours right out of a piston who really doesn't have competetive time to go to another major (hell they're not even competetive for the job they have currently anymore), Atlas could be a great option if they get furloughed. I don't think many of the other guys are willing to take that much of a pay-cut or be gone that long from home. Many current pilots at NK are former Atlas guys, many of whom were captains at atlas before going to spirit. There is one I know of personally who was a LCA at Atlas and is now an LCA at spirit.

United is still offering captain slots to new hires. And it’s going JUNIOR is new hire class. A buddy of mine is 25 and was awarded captain, and he didn’t want it.

Stop shilling. I would rather go fly at a regional than Atlas
