Just a matter of time before all airline points get diluted into nothing. I’ve seen hotels require a bit of cash along with points redemption. Doesn’t matter if you have all the points in the world, they want some cash too. Can’t wait to see how passengers react to something like this! I’m thinking the points scam may be starting to unravel a bit.
Not going to happen. People have been trained

This would be more believable if they said they’re switching from Delta to United. Or American.

#1 reason this isn’t going to happen is because you don’t have the robust route structure delta has. In other words. It’s hard to fly spirit when you don’t go where they wanna go.

Then why did Delta, American and United all create an Economy fare - modeled after and referred to by members of legacy department as “Spirit Fare”? Sounds like Soirit had a big enough market for the big 3 to adopt a different model.

Prior to the pandemic they were much more focused on high fare business travel than leisure travel, especially low priced travel. When the business travel didn't come back they adapted and began going after every dollar available. Now they offer a price focused option that also comes with a much larger network, historically better customer service, better rewards programs, frequency, WiFi and in seat entertainment.

Better rewards? That’s why you’re having this conversation, the rewards aren’t worth it anymore. He may come once but I doubt he’d stay for long.

“Spirit fare” started by DAL in 2015, 2017 by UAL. Covid caused a consumer shift and spirit lacked the ability to adapt. Theyve been coming at spirit/frontier for almost 10 years now.
