Are there any new leaks on the potential furloughs and/or base closures?

You're such a snowflake. You spend so much time complaining about other people on this forum, like this subforum is only for Spirit pilots, and if someone has left and comments on this forum, they are scum (If YOU dont like the post).

Toughen up Snowflake. You wont be able to handle the worst if this gets under your skin.

My old class chat seems to think it’s 200-600 furloughs and ORD/DFW closing but unsure how much validity it has as I’ve had my finger off the pulse for a while. Would be quite the shakeup.

I hope they enjoy the money drain from a thousand plus pilots being owed displacement pay. Two very senior bases closing could just bankrupt the company again.

You wind up driving up training costs astronomically with massive switching of seats and fleets, everybody gets paid at their old rates in the interim, you pay for lots of downtime, for moves, for furlough pay…and when you are retiring 600+ a year anyway…?

can’t say it won’t happen with a big enough economic black swan, but if the country is hit that hard economically do you really think that NK would be immune. Don’t get me wrong, there may be perfectly good individual reasons to not give up on NK, but I’m not at all sure the “too big to not furlough more than 2000 junior FOs is one of them.
I agree. What I was saying is if you lose 2000 seniority numbers at a legacy between getting hired now or getting hired after spirit goes under your outcome at a legacy may not change much. If there were a furlough at a legacy you’re getting furloughed either way. The QOL increase of getting hired now would be minimal.

I’ve posted it before bc people keep asking why not just apply and have a CJO in your back pocket just in case.

The answer makes plenty of sense. You don’t get a second chance. You can’t accept the CJO and then not go to class. If you do that you expect to call them a year from now when spirit is gone and the legacy to welcome you with open arms. I’d like to have all options available if I ride it out and I’m not ready to say yes to a legacy tomorrow if offered the job.

You certainly could go through the process but if you tell them no after getting a class date so you can stay a spirit don’t expect to ever have that opportunity again with that airline.

Yes, I feel that if you leave for another airline, then continue to come back and tell everyone else that they won't have a job, well I have a problem with that. I apologize if that bothers you.

I left NK in January. Miss the guys I flew with and the comfort of knowing everything, my seniority and the pilot culture. Moved on to wearing a hat, it’s just a job and commuting does suck. The starting over blows but the nagging cloud of uncertainty is gone. I would say fill out apps even if you want to ride Spirit into wherever/whatever happens next. No harm no foul to have started the process for possibly having something in your back pocket if you wanted to pull the trigger. Wish nothing but the best for all my buds still there.

That is what makes you soft. You would be ok if NK was killing it and guys from other airlines were posting "man, I should not have left..man...I was stupid." I know you would be doing a victory lap.

Toughen up. If someone says "NK is in big trouble," it's because they are, not because they are picking on you. Just because you dont like the message, it doesn't make it not true. If this hurts your feelings too much, stay off the forums. This is not your safe space, its thunderdome at times and many have had to stay off it due to health issues.

Stop being soft.

No I would say that those guys are still in a good place and congrats on going to a legacy. So you don't know what I would and would not be okay with. I know you spent 5 minuets at a regional and 5 minuets at spirit before getting a call from AA so you think you have it all figured out. But there are people at Spirit who have been there probably longer than you have been alive who's entire life is in the balance of this. So to come back and rub what is already obvious in their faces just to justify YOUR decision for leaving is ultimate level of trash I could never lower myself to. If that makes me "soft" then so be it.
