Care to share how Spirit will be bought for enough the pilots get a check?
As it is, Frontier is the only game in town, and apparently Spirit and Frontier are on the edge of not making a deal. An acquisition is clearly a financial strain on Frontier and it may not happen. Even if it does, Fearit will still have a failed business model and will burn cash even faster.
It would of course be best for everyone if a viable, capitalized airline acquired Spirit. But it's complete hopium that it will happen. I want to be wrong. FlyFlorida please tell me why you're so confident SW will swoop in?

the $280 million is a farce. It’s unsecured “debt”. Secured debt would be paid first on any sale…assuming there’s anything left after that, you could collect. Assuming a F9 sale (let’s be honest, f9 isn’t merging with spirit..if anything they’re buying them) and Knowing Frankie..there will be zero left. I don’t know what the details of that concession provision say but the wording may be very important depending how things shake out.

exactly..it’s a feel good provision to make the pilot group feel like they didn’t just get completely bent over the barrel.
now, if I were a Spirit pilot, If this merger rumor becomes reality, I would be VERY interested in when the current merger talks started. If they started prior to this concession package being presented to the pilot group…..well.

the fact that it is unsecured makes it a farce. Unsecured debt is last on the list and if there’s no money left…well…too bad. That and the fact that it is written as having a stake in the airline’s survival. Does that include acquisition? The language is important and admittedly, I don’t know that.

Well in reality, yes that’s what it appears. I guess my point and question is..why on earth would you accept concessions based on false pretenses. The bill of goods sold to get it passed was complete tomfoolery if this merger rumor becomes reality
