The official good news Spirit Thread
Can we please have a Thread that contains only good news?
Today is a new day and for the first time in a long time we have hope. Despite what people want you to think Spirit is actually a great place to work. We have some of the most talented and dedicated pilots in the industry. We want this place to survive. We love our (sometimes dysfunctional) airline. We finally have leadership and a board of directors that know what they are doing. If there wasn’t any chance of this place being viable or confidence in Dave Davis then the bond holders and board would have shut the place down. [mod edit] The official good news thread begins now FEB 25 2026……….. |

So what? This just seems like a jealousy post. People picking up premium time has no bearing on if the company brings back furloughed pilots or not. They’re shrinking the fleet, that’s why the furloughs. Only difference would be those flights would have been cancelled otherwise. The people who have stayed here actually want the airline to succeed. And that’s what it takes right now.
Just calling out a team player that’s all. The pilots who where forced to leave appreciate you and all of your suffering and sacrifice. |
Is the good news that management will be meeting with union partners or that overpaid law groups are comparing pay and benefits to "industry peers" or another law group is analyzing cba's to meet the new labor strategy while planning for additional labor negotiations? Don't think this is going anywhere good

Exiting bankruptcy was supposed to include snapbacks and equity correct?

Feb 26 2026
The massive cancellations have subsided. Only 1 cancellation and 98% morning fleet launch on time. The emergence news has curbed the sick and vacation time burn. According to a FLL FA coordinator, all FA recall positions have been filled. |

For the first time in a long we are at zero cancellations on a Saturday. The great news this week has certainly calmed everyone down.
Bendo’s video with Davis yesterday was reassuring. It’s obvious they can’t say much but the whole vibe was certainly a welcome change. I have never seen Davis smile before. Hang in there! |

Typical weekend meltdown was shifted back a day. There are 10+ open trips out of just NY tomorrow with negative reserve coverage and no premium interest. Looks like we'll give the Middle East airlines a run for their money in cancellation %

I'm guessing the conversation is, we burned through that 100m in savings that was meant for a year in just 10 weeks with nonstop IROPS. So they want the employees to pay the cost of their bad management yet again. They already said they've targeted an additional 300m in non fleet savings. How much of that is the labor group being hit with?!

It’s official! We are recalling and upgrading again! 200% pay for spring break pairings!
March and April bookings are over 87%. Exiting bankruptcy early summer. This is the beginning of the greatest airline comeback story. |

The real good news is that all furloughed pilots are being recalled and upgraded classes are starting this summer.

Recall also means that Spirit is not likely to go to 13 pilots per airplane.

Pretty sure they need them for summer and are hoping that attrition does the dirty work for them, otherwise come fall right back out the door would be the expectation.

Or that they don't plan on many coming back. Hell I wouldn't.
They can take their 8% DC and shove it where the sun doesn't shine. Even with recalls and upgrades I'm still out. |

^^ This. They're probably planning for continued attrition as well. It still makes financial sense long-term to leave (assuming your <55yo)

Wow. So many missable former employees just can’t help themselves but come back to “the good news thread” and try and negatively spin the fantastic news furloughed and downgraded pilots have been waiting for.
Enjoy your commute;) The purge is almost complete. We are going to have a tight knit pro spirit pilot group motivated to Make Spirit Great Again. |

Larger issue is the increasing oil price and how will the ULCC/LCC deal with that cost. |
