Right, but the original point where this back and forth started in this thread was a large majority of Spirit’s pilot group (or any pilot group) would have previously complained about a bailout of another airline, but when they need it they rationalize why it’s okay.

For the record I’m completely fine with any and all avenues to help Spirit survive, but unless their business model can evolve I see all presented opportunities as bandaids over a large wound. The ULCC model was billed to give carriers like Spirit a major competitive advantage against legacy airlines when fuel prices spike; however, that has never been the case.

Good luck to everyone there and I hope better days are ahead.

That may be..but the decision was appealed and then subsequently both parties terminated the deal. In my opinion JetBlue realized they were WAY overpaying for the deal and this was their out. If you want to place blame, put in on the Spirit BOD that backed out of the only actual viable deal they had with F9. Greed got them

Totally right, and how many chances have they had to merge fifth F9 since?

I'm not really a fan of this kind of intervention. But (like covid), part of the problems NK faces are direct results of government action. In this case Iran and Biden's lawsuit.

But does this fix the business mode? I think we know the answer.

Spirit would be JetBlue right now had a crooked administration not blocked it. Their argument was that Spirit is needed for competition…now Spirit is not needed for competition? They can’t have it both ways. The government can’t just sink a company by playing both sides.

Depends on which government you're talking about. The government that did that is long gone, including Jon and Lina.

Im all for saving jobs but spirit management squandered profits away for years when every other airline made **** tons of money. That behavior does not deserve a govt handout reward.
Thats what most of these people don’t understand. It buys you a few months before you are here yet again. At this point turn a profit or die.

In 2008, Aloha, ATA, Champion, Skybus all shut down within days of each other. ZFG by the government. What's so special about Spirit especially with other, stronger airlines hanging on? If anything, it's a cautionary tale. Personally, I think the government should stay the hell out of any mergers or "antitrust" issues - if businesses want to buy each other or merge, that's none of the government's business. The only thing I trust the government to do correctly and efficiently is to kill people and screw up a black cup of coffee.... The market finds a way. The government screws it all up.
oh my God , shut up dude. Who cares. Is it your company? Just collection your paycheck and go home man.
