There are a few of us who would take LAS, myself included. It is irrelivant if we want it as a group or not. If they decide it will save them money then they will open a base and staff it with new hires who don't have a choice. Personally, if I was a new hire and lived in the northeast and had a choice of LAS or ACY, LAS hands down.

Do you get called for an interview or emailed an application packet? What comes first? What I'm hearing from a few buddies is they get an email first (the application) - no phone call.

I was hired over 3 years ago so I'm getting most of my info from our assistant chief and a few friends. I think you get an email if you meet our criteria to fill out a more detailed app. Then you get a call but from what I hear most calls are still coming from internal recommendations.

How long would one expect to be in ACY (or other junior assigned base) before getting FLL?
I understand this may be changing with the new bases.
Would anyone care to predict how popular the ORD or LAS bases may be?
I have pledged to my family to NEVER commute again.
Commutting for 15 plus years, took a great toll in our family life.
My suggestion to married folks, is to avoid it as much as possible.
It is, in my humble opinion, the main downside of our other wise glorious profession.
Having gone through both, furlough and bankruptcy excluded.
THANK YOU
