I guess I'm with Sailor on this. Disbelief at the magnitude of the tragedy that involved one of our (ex) own.

Let's get back to guessing why 614 is still on the ramp, 508 needs an engine change, whether to say "on" or "set", and will my new blue pants match my eye color.
614 is still on the ramp because when it came over it was in TPA getting worked on by contract guys who dont have some level of certification (can't remember what it's called) the FAA showed up and these guys said CYA, and walked off the job

This is easy:

The checklists and calls should be "PARKING BRK ON" or "PARKING BRK OFF" for the airbus. Checklists and calls should always match the markings and or displays from the machine one is operating (for standardization sake).

Look on the pedestal at the markings on the PARKING BRK handle. It indicates "PARKING BRK" "ON" or "OFF". When selected "ON", the ECAM memo displays "PARK BRK".

All checklists and callouts should be printed as they appear on the equipment.

On & Off sound similar to a guy on the tug, who might not speak English as a first language (the "O" sound in "on/off") so ICAO terms are "set" and "released".
That's how I understand it....

Also, keep in mind that Spirit uses a lot of contract rampers systemwide. They work several different airlines and probably use the standard verbage of "BRAKES SET?" with almost every other carrier. It's probably tougher for the rampers to adjust to verbage like "PARKING BRAKE ON" or "PARKING BRAKE OFF" just to accomodate NK when they're using different verbage for other carriers.

Sorry Hugh, the part about flying by your own compass could be taken as a hint about non std behavior. I took you wrong. We're all sorry for the loss of a fellow pilot and especially for you having lost a friend.

Got a voicemail from scheduling at 3am this morning wondering if I was "interested" in LAS to PDX tonight. No mention of JM and I just checked open time and there is nothing in there. There is only one RSV for today, I hope someone didn't get suckered into straight pay.

3:00 am sweet. I'm surprised they're allowed to do that here. That's pretty nasty.

615 is ready for delivery. It should leave this afternoon. Everything as far as delivery for the next birds is still on schedule.

Why? They are allowed to call anytime you are not on rest or protected time. I've been off since Wednesday and don't go back until Monday, so I'm sure I am at the top of their list.
