Why? Because it is disrespectful to a family to be woken up in the middle of the night. If you turn your ringer off then you won't receive a real emergency call. That's why.

I'm sure Mr. Wisconsin isn't new, and he knows to turn off the ringer. He also probably has a number for scheduling to call other than his house phone. He said he got a voice mail at 3am, not that it woke up the whole household.

Correct........I'm not new and yes it was I voicemail that I got when I woke up. The point of this was to point out that JM wasn't mentioned, is this something new or have they figured out people will fly for straight pay?

So let me understand. You are defending the company's right to cluster bomb the seniority list at 3am hoping someone wants to fly even though they aren't listed as time available?

And cluster they did not......one phone call with a voicemail. We are not the only industry that receives calls even when we are "off" duty.

No, but I understand what it is. This will not change, they have flights to cover. Adapt or get used to being woken up. Are you saying this is the first aviation job you have had where they can call you in the middle of the night?

The Company will not contact a pilot between 2200 and 0800 unless there is a change in that pilot's schedule that requires a contact during the time between 2200 and 0800. In this case, the pilot may be called 90 minutes prior to the revised report time, or sooner if necessary, provided the call is made so as to minimize the disruption to the pilot's rest.

That applies to rest only. Basically, it allows the company to contact you once so they can notify you of a schedule change. It doesn't apply for days off, unless it is rest on a day off before you start a trip.
I'm in the middle of about 12 days off so there is no duty or rest for them to worry about.
The definition of rest in the contract seems to make this even muddier if I'm reading it right so I understand your point but the definition of day off makes sense. If it ever happens to you file a grievance and see what happens.

Paragraph H only talks about notification. It is there to prevent harassment after hours, not rest. The company should not be calling anyone during those hours except for the few reasons given as exceptions. They should not have called you. It is a valid grievance.
