Oh really? So the overwhelming majority of Council 77 DFW pilots won't be afforded a chance to vote is not a problem? Speaking of Bylaws...find this one...I'm sure you have a copy, Captain.

"The following shall be complied with during Local Council meetings: where applicable, due to the size of the Council, or availability of membership, and in order to allow the maximum number of members to attend a meeting, the meeting may be divided into two (2) or more sessions. Each meeting having more than one session shall discuss the same items on the published agenda, and in case of new business at the first session, such new business shall be discussed at the remaining sessions of the meetings. Any vote taken on any matter of business must be a compilation of the voting on that matter of business of all sessions. Voting at second or subsequent sessions must be confined to the issues voted upon at the first session, including votes to table, amend, etc."

How about that mate?

It says may, not must. Reading is fundamental.

I too agree the bylaws need to be updated to allow for e-voting in these instances. However, to insinuate that the MEC is not following the bylaws is inflammatory nonsense.

In closing, get your whining @ss to the meeting if its so important to you!

captscott, if TW, the 077 chair had the opportunity to hold dual meetings why wouldn't he? Do you think the MEC had a roll in making local policy and influenced TW?

I honestly dont know. Im not a 077 member any longer, and i have been mostly out of touch with all the inside info since i stepped away from the sched cmte.

Lets be honest though, no matter the location, there will still be x number of guys working. We arent talking about a transcon commute. Those that feel so passionate about this certainly have the opportunity to attend.

And why won't they set up a meeting in DFW if they MAY? Read again, it also says "SHALL be complied." So you and your condescending friends in the union expect all DFW pilots that are off that day to attempt to commute to LAS on super-packed flights for a vote? Wow, what a "we" union-man team-player you are! Tell me, what is the big logistical challenge of setting up another meeting in DFW when it is allowed by the Bylaws? The fact is that the MEC does not like the DFW pilot's ideology and know they have the numbers to defeat MEC-allied nominated candidates. All we want is transparency and not see reps conspiring in the dark against fellow pilots (looking at pay sheets from pilots v-files, tar-and-feather blacklists of pilots "making too much money", blocking of candidates for instructor/check airman due to political ideology disagreements, etc.). You think we don't know about these things? We want to see published trip drops. We want to see published LEC and MEC budgets. We want to see resolutions followed though with, and not swept under the carpet when they're not convenient to the leadership. We want the right to directly input who will be on the negotiating committee and not allow the MEC to appoint their buddies based on personal relationships instead of experience, specialized education and qualifications. You do know that there are many pilots here with MBA's and formal training (beyond those ALPA correspondence courses) and managerial experience in negotiations are available to help, do you? The latest appointee that popped out of nowhere has what, a BA in Psychology? And couldn't explain to one of our pilots in a recent "crew room meeting" the difference between Distributive and Integrative Negotiations? Basic Negotiations 101! Really!?
Finally, how about our elected reps get their @sses out to DFW and set up a fair election instead of hiding behind excuses and smokescreens. Why not if the Bylaws allow it? I bet your weren't gonna mention that paragraph of the document, right? Make no mistake, most new pilots here at Spirit are not stupid like you think and are now being exposed to the rotten politics that has surrounded this union for quite some time. Change is on the horizon.
Oh, did I say too much? Let me guess, the MEC's next move is to find a way to shut down the APC forum...huh?

There is no indication that ACY will be closing but I wouldn't make a career decision on the information.
