Then during transition, they must remove 6 days worth of flying from your schedule and pay protect you because crew planning is not allowed to remove flying from the middle (contractual). The contract requires that they remove flying from the ends. So if you have a block of 12 days of reserve, 6 days of reserve get removed somewhere.

They also must remove you from flying if you are scheduled for more than 29hrs in 7 days (contractual not FAR)

As far as 3 stints of 12 days of reserve flying in a row, not likely, the situation comes up as a result of bidding a line that has a block of 6 days of flying at the end of one month or jockeying with your schedule to get six days of flying added or swapped into your schedule from open time at the end of the month before next month's bid closes, and then bidding for a block of 6 days of flying at the beginning of the next month.

I had a nice JM today - I'm sure there are other pilots that have done better than what I did today. I got called for a JM this morning. 7:30 flying - so at 200% credits 15:00. It caused a 29/7 conflict with my next 4 day, so scheduling removed me from the 4 day and pay protected 23:15 the trip was worth, so for one day of work, I got paid 38:15 and got 3 extra days off for my trouble.

Hey Shrek, because of the JM statement or because a post from 2015 freaks you out?

This is an old thread......can anyone share what kind of hotels Spirit crews stay at these days? Brand......distance from airports?

Are FOs able to routinely fly more than the min hours?

Thanks,

D~

I'll bite...

Yup. It sure is old. Plenty of info on pay, hours, days off, etc can be found using search. There's a Spirit thread now.

And are you really making career decisions based on the hotels you might overnight at?

Sounds like you might want to hold out for that legacy job.

He is ex military so I’ll cut him so slack with the hotel question and how “far from the airport”. But yes, all of this can be found in the Spirit forums, where he has posted before.

The worst hotels, and everyone pretty much subsides on Ramen Noodles until the Deltuh Gods grace us with a “fix it” email.

Most would rather deliver pizzas than with here, but you know.

The free High Fives are hard to beat.

My original schedule was 15 off and 85 hours. I was supposed to work 10 days straight from the 20th thru 31st. I had a 32 hour layover on the 26th to make 10 days legal.

I was also supposed to work this current weekend. I dropped this weekend trip and now I’m enjoying my good buddies Xmas party.

I dropped my trip on the 20th, swapped into a better trip starting the 23rd - 26th (yes I work Xmas. Most junior line holder). Off the 27th and found a great
Trip, in a different base, the 28-31st. I’ll be done at 9am New Years Eve.

I was able to attend my buddies Xmas party this evening, and I am now joining a friend on a 7 day cruise the 15th - 22nd.

Now I have 19 off and 64 hours. I gave up 8 hours of pay (ask me if I care) and now am doing everything I want to do for the month.

I am the most junior line holder in my base. If this doesn’t answer your question about QOL, nothing will. Lmao
