I know XJT just started a "Gauranteed" interview program for United so I'm sure we will see a dramatic drop in XJT guys pursuing Spirit. It's kind of sad that 2nd year UAL F/Os make more than me at my 4th year CA rate. Hopefully this doesn't drag out for years.......for many reasons

Maybe someone, Lobeaux, can comment??

Just a WAG based on his number, but I think the most junior guy has 3-4 months of seniority???
Thanks for the info...

Totally agree with you... Hey Mr. AeroCrewSolut... We paid for the JobFair, at least we should get a letter from the airlines saying something, and no just waitting for a "miracle"

People really need to realize that every airline will hire the exact same amount of pilots, pretty soon with or without a job fair. People need to stop going to these things and funding whoever is profiting off people looking to improve their lives.

Default Schooze fest?

Anyone get the email to attend the Spirit Pilot "Schmooze Fest"? I got this email a few weeks back for the one in Seattle on the 26th. Just wondering if this is a job fair type deal where you wait in line for a while to talk with a recruiter for a few minutes. Is it required to attend this if invited? I ask because I have heard of other simply getting a phone interview after applying. I received this invitation after completing the little aptitude test they send you after applying.

Not that it sounds as though you are too terribly interested in Spirit, attending the job fair would show a desirability to work here. If you've gone through the trouble of filling out the app, taking the online assessment and researching the company, you could possibly make it to the next step with a job fair. At Spirit, they treat the job fairs as an initial interview step, not just a meet and greet. It is true though that many are beginning to get the cold-call with only an app on file.

Truthfully, the more pilots who show up for class and then soon resign for better jobs at legacies only helps our bargaining position for a better contract. So I encourage you to give it a shot. But please don't fool them at the interview and end up a miserable person to be with for a 4-day trip. We get it. Our pay is low; trying to make it better.

Good luck.

The union isn't trying to make the pay better!! They could careless. The union doesn't feel it needs to look at the issue, the company will have to deal with the issue if they want people to select Spirit is the Unions view. This is wrong and the logic is so flawed I don't know where to start. It's par for the course at Spirit. When you don't require the company to pay retro pay you end up with the never ending "Contract talks". Guys stay where you are, the upgrade train is slowing and the new hire classes are back to 9 a month. That doesn't even cover the guys leaving for the majors. BTW: People aren't going to the job fairs and the company is worried about where they're going to find pilots. They think the Military guys are going to come and save the day! LOL!!

If you're speaking to first year pay, I don't think our union should expend negotiating capital on people who aren't here. The union is correct. Let the market and spirit determine first year pay. However, I do believe we should get retro pay and a smoother pay scale.

How many times are you going to post complete nonsense before someone calls you out for being completely FOS?

9 a month? A class of 10 started on the 1st, and another class of 10 started on the 15th. The last vacancy award showed March classes of 14 and 12.

And no, it doesn't seem they are worried about getting pilots yet. It was directly quoted to me by a chief pilot that interviews and classes are currently scheduled out 2 months.

I'm all for educating people with what's really going on, but you specifically spew complete BS about class sizes, failure rates, attrition, etc... So much so, the one day you finally find a nugget of info that is actually true, no one will believe you. Try living in the real world for a bit, the weather's nice!

The class of 10 has one company instructor, so it's a class of nine. He's not a line pilot! Spirit is hiring off the street instructors to do what the contract clearly states is a line pilot job. The numbers you've been told aren't actually line pilots. I know the Captain that was at the last job fair and he point blank told me it was late afternoon before he received a resume that met the company hiring mins. If the company thinks guys are going to wait around 2 months to work at Spirit great. I know for a fact they short call guys trying to fill classes. The instructor will call everyone in the new hire class a few days out to see if they are actually coming. Guys don't show! Those are the facts. Show me how to post up the picture of the vacancy bid for April, it shows 3 for ACY, 1 DFW, 4 FLL and 1 ORD, total of 9 FO's! 10 captains! Those are facts! 1 class feb and 1 class next month. that's the word I received. Trust me I hope I'm wrong!!! What happen to 28 a month of line guys??? You have to pull the instructor numbers out!! Those aren't line pilots.
