Its a good question...people "assume" that Spirit will hire anyone with hours and experience in the Airbus, this isnt close to being accurate. Granted there are those who incorrectly post on here about "having a pulse is all you need" or "they are afraid you will leave."
You still have to play the game of a few internal recommendations and having a job fair under your belt will definitely help.
I would rather hire someone with less experience but has shown initiative to get the job, versus someone who submits an impressive resume and expects the offer to come flying in.
If you have done a job fair and submitted some LOR, that is a different story.

Please don't make any career decisions based on all the negativity on this site. All the guys and gals in my class were very highly qualified for the position, mostly regional captains. The first year pay is low but the quality of life is by far the best I have ever had in my 10 years in the industry. If you don't end up liking it you're much more competitive for a major with the Airbus type. The attitude on the line is not as negative as the loud minority on APC, most guys I fly with enjoy the job.

There is a reason a significant number here, and close to 25% of our new hires, are going somewhere else. Maybe you don't have a degree. Or perhaps you have a DUI under your belt. Or perhaps you believe out work rules are worth a 50% discount. I love the job. Don't like the management. And loathe our pay. Guys ask for input. I'll give it to you straight. Our pay sucks and won't get much better. If that works for you then best of luck. High fives are free.

Everyone loves the job. That isn't the issue. But you can't pay the mortgage or retire on the love of a job. We get paid 50% what United pays guys to fly the same airplane the first five years. And United 3 year FO's get paid more than our 5 year captains. We need a raise close to 80% to even get close. That's never going to happen. This place is Walmart with wings. We need a 25% raise just to match current current JetBlue.
