As far as training, reading Raph's post should be a concern if you are thinking about Spirit and a career here. There is no spoon feeding, no holding hands, there are training gates and if you don't make it through one that is considered an unsat. A second unsat on a gate, oral, or checkride could be means for termination. It's no joke! Training is difficult if you don't prepare before class. Good luck to those brave enough to take on the Spirit challenge with no expierence.
Thanks PaidPnuts.

I wish you the best luck moving forward Jetraph. I agree with your previous post, don't be afraid to ask questions during training, even if you have to ask it twice. Sometime in training things weren't clear to me and it took me a few time to grasp it. You are given the entire binder of lessons in the beginning of training, so my sim partner and I would review all of our material the night before so we were on the same page the next lesson.

I wasn't trying to play the victim role as you suggested in your comment.
I was given a very fair treatment during training. As I said before, Im NO victim. The problem was me and me alone. The purpose of my posts was to try to describe what to expect before getting to FLL for training. COME PREPARED was the message I was trying to convey.
I sincerely hope that if you go to Spirit that you take my advice, use it and do well in training. If you are at Spirit already, I hope you keep doing well. Just do me a favor if you will and don't comment if you have nothing positive to add to the discussion.
Your behavior defeats the whole purpose of this thread. Your main focus should be to use this thread as a tool to exchange meaningful information about Spirit, its training program and working there and not to use it for personal attacks.
Cheers

Thanks Wakeboard88. Glad to hear that you did fine.

Does anyone know if Spirit hires people who are not currently working in 121. I left a 121 regional on a E170 five years ago to pursue a different career. Since then I have logged about 100 hours per year to stay proficient. I have 4650 TT of which 3130 is turbine SIC. I am asking because I am not really interested in any of the regionals.

You won't know unless you apply. Plenty of people (myself included) left the industry to work different careers during the Dark Decade, only to return when the prevailing winds finally changed. Your story isn't that unique.

The big issue is will you be able to get through our training program? As amply explained previously, our program isn't designed for low time and/or low experienced pilots. And while you have competitive times, you're likely to be quite rusty. Flying a 172 (or whatever you've been keeping current in) for a hundred hours a year likely won't be anywhere near the proficiency you'll need to get through our box-checking program.

In all seriousness, you'd be better off going to a regional for at least six months before attempting our "training" program. It's not a joke.

If you think you can hack it, apply. The worst they can say is nothing at all, which is what they're saying right now anyways.

Your ability to do that and not hold a grudge against spirit is commendable, and it shows your integrity. The training curve here is steep. Unfortunately, this place requires a very steep learning curve. It is regrettable because some people have a shallower learning curve that may in fact extend higher than others over the course of months to years. Good luck in the future.

Thanks Car Ramrod and to all the others for the positive feedback. Glad to see that most people are seeing the post for what it is.

Cheers

We're not exactly hiring Delta/AA/United competitive people right now and are only going to have to dig deeper to find guys willing to work here. I'd apply and see what happens.
