That's not what the NC says. Not what the MEC says. Not what p2p says.

Default Upgrades

A lot of talk about upgrades, here are some figures.

There's two ways to look at the upgrade, both with their own faults.

First, based on upgrade classes.
There are 1350 pilots, with the most junior CA award for Feb. being around seniority 760. That leaves around 600 pilots waiting to upgrade. Upgrade classes are currently 14/month. 600 / 14 is about 42-43 months to upgrade.

This assumes that the class sizes don't change either up or down and more senior FOs who bypassed now take the upgrade.

The second way
Look at the % seniority which pilots are taking the upgrade. Currently it is around 56% on the seniority list. If that trend continues, there will need to be about 2400 pilots on property before the most junior FO (#1350) upgrades. With net growth around 30 pilots/month that will be around 35-36 months.

This assumes attrition doesn't increase and the % relative upgrade seniority doesn't change. It also doesn't include those who have bypassed upgrade.

In short, if current hiring and upgrade classes continue, it will be a 3 to 4 year upgrade vs. 2 years and 9 months it is currently.

I guess I might have used the wrong quote then. In your post before that one you jumped the first guy who spoke up about his experience with LC reserve. As I don't believe there is anyone at NK who has experience with LC reserve at a "higher tier" carrier and I doubt there are many "Big 4" pilots very interested in our slice of this website, his input was valid. I understand that with typed words we lose at least 90% of the message so maybe you meant it in a more encouraging way.
I get that NK is better than just about everyone on property's previous employer and the only ones who may think the opposite are probably miserable and trying to get out. Those of us who understand that things can be better (I hope all of us) need to work together and make it so. Use your position as Captain to mentor the new hires not only on fifi but what life can be like here.

Did you read the latest email? They cancelled the upgrade class.

I've done the same thing. You type out a big response which you think is great, but it's only about 1/8 of what you're thinking, so the post becomes cryptic and doesn't make sense, but to yourself it makes perfect sense. Then, when someone calls you out on it, you say, "but it makes perfect sense, either you don't understand or you don't know how to read". We've all done it. Your two posts didn't make as much sense as you think they did. But, it's the holidays, Merry Christmas to you and your family. We're all on the same team.

I don't appreciate your attitude, Ram. Stop being so optimistic. You're going to raise the hopes of the new guys
