Spirit of NKS, Part II

Computer systems have been down since around 1230. Planes on the ground have been on an internal ground stop. Things are slowly resuming.

I just finished listening to the call. I liked a lot of what Bob said regarding improving customers experience. Whether or not anything changes, who knows. What I am concerned with is how he commented that they are actively revising the fleet plan and should be done 'in a few weeks'. Anyone else get bad vibes from that comment, or was he just referring to keeping some 319's longer??

Why should it amaze you?? And, give me some credit, I also referred to the potential of keeping more 319's...

finally some insight into the direction fornaro would like to go.
1. expansion into smaller markets
2. keep costs low
3. improve reliability and reputation (cleaner planes, better on time etc)

Survey answers
Aside from the obvious need for better pay rates and fixed slope I added the following to the survey:
Junior assignment
Leave it alone! It is a tool for the company to make us work on our days off, not a way to make more money (If anything trade 2/month & 5/year to 1/month & 6/year).
For the income-challenged, see PREMIUM pay.
Premium pay/low reserve coverage
During periods of low reserve coverage (defined as “net coverage”<”min req’d”-1), between 36 hours and 12 hours before check-in Trips in DOT will get marked “premium” in Flica. Pay at 150% (200% would be better). Alternatively the company must make reserve days available for pick-up at premium rate.
Any trip worked as a special request from the company should be paid at least at premium rate.
DOT
Scheduling will not assign open time to reserves until 12 hours before check-in. Crew members can drop (provided reserve coverage is adequate) and pick-up DOT trips until 12 hours before check-in.
Days of for line holders
The minimum scheduled length of a block of days off following a block of days on during line building will be: 4 days off, or the number of days worked in the previous block of days work if longer. Build up line bidders can waive the blocks altogether but will have 15 days off. Average days off for all lines on a per base/seat basis shall be 15 days off.
Transition conflict
Resolution in “this month” will only be done by dropping of whole blocks of days with pay protection. This includes trips extending into next month.
Resolution in “next month” will only be done by dropping whole blocks without pay protection. Before IOT starts there will be an option (but no requirement) for pilots affected by resolution drops to pick-up trips from open time at premium rates in the conflict period.
Other
Trade “29 in 7” and “max 8 hour block/day” for min 5hour pay per duty period or calendar day whichever is higher.
Flame away!
I think the company will fight hard to get away from pay protection in transition conflict, I think doing it this way will create a lot of open time which must be offered at premium so win/win/lose/lose?
"What I find fascinating is the very low salaries, wages and benefits costs. Spirit Airlines has the lowest salaries and wages cost of only 1.92 cents per ASM, while those of Southwest Airlines and JetBlue are much higher at 4.14 cents and 2.88 cents per ASM"

Not much of a stretch.
Another way to argue for that likelihood is thinking about our breakneck growth speed. Has anyone argued for it to be faster? Not that I've seen. Most of the comments both inside the company and from talking investor heads was concern about growing so fast. So if they are making a change...is it likely it will be more orders or less?
