Or just go to a regional who would pay for one, put in a year, then come here. The experience of a 121 is good to have in your back pocket. Most of the guys who have difficulty in this program hadn’t had previous 121 experience.

Also, keep in mind that with a new contract, they will probably have a bit of a pile of applicants to pick through. If you have a fresh ATP but no experience using it, you’re going to have an uphill climb getting on property, let alone completing training and OE.

PS-
It definitely seems like you had a bit of an attitude toward this company and it’s contract negotiation process, whether you intended to sound that way or not.

After looking through your previous posts, less than 4 months ago you claimed to have 500TT. Unless you magically got to ATP mins in the last few months, maybe reserve your attitude for when you ACTUALLY have the time to be considered to be hired.

Not to pile on too much, but most likely the empty bucket of applications has already started to fill up, and by the time this thing goes into effect the competitive numbers for a new hire will more likely be in the range of the other carriers with similar pay and rules. Some folks that came on board over the last few months when there was so much uncertainty won the jackpot, it seems. I’ve been here a couple years already and not sure if I would be competitive if I were applying today.

You'll likely also need to ask for about 2500hrs of jet time. Sunny just became very competitive.

No idea when people with 700hrs became so entitled. Wasn’t that long ago that you couldn’t even get a job at the regionals without 2000 hrs.

I don't have a dog in this fight. I'm finishing off a military career short of 3000 rw hours and this summer I'll get all the necessary ATP certs and hours, maybe closer to the 300 hour mark vs 250 (I know, big deal).

From a newcomers perspective though, it seems like those starting out are no longer under the "beggars can't be choosers" adage. In 2017/18 when I first stated looking at this industry the pay was in the lower 20s. And literally overnight at some places pay more than doubled.

And now places like a Sun Country, iAero, and Spirit are all accepting applications with ATP min time. Does it mean you'll get hired - no. But the fact that you can apply is a pretty big deal.

Was he being entitled?
Maybe, I don't know.
Does he realize how lucky guys like him and I are that times have changed so much in such short time to our advantage?
Maybe, I don't know.
Do I like asking and answering my own question?
Yes, absolutely.

You’ll find on this website everyone thinks “you have to pay your dues” because when they got hired it took hell freezing over and they had to walk up hill both ways in the snow in minus 100 degree windchill temps, to school each day. God-forbid the times change and the hiring process changes to becoming easy to become a pilot.
