ANR Headsets
#21
I have the U-Fly-Mike setup and knew that it was TSO if used with the earbuds. I was not aware however that you actually are supposed to send your whole headset to them and get a sticker. Good to know. Also, a little silly if you ask me, but given how important communications are, it is better safe than sorry.

I used the QC2 and the UFM for a few years on the 737. The UFM unit itself is solidly built and works well. However, as an FO, I really hated the fact that it is a "Captain" headset; got to have it on the left ear. The cable must be routed in such a way that it doesn't get clamped/tangled with the seat and shoulder straps, which is a hassle.
The mike itself is positioned too low, IMO, and cannot be swiveled.
The QC2/QC15 has awesome ANR and great audio quality, but the plastic brackets that hold the cups to the head bands are weak, and can and do break. They did twice on me. I went through two QC2 units before I finally chucked the whole setup and bought a Telex 850.
It is a fine setup. I hope the guy who makes them is making buckets of cash. But the system does have some drawbacks, I am afraid.
