That's a brilliant business plan. That would require a contract change by one of the majors, and in this environment, I don't see that happening. Can the MRJ be configured for 76 seats?

Several years back when this whole thing was first announced, the thought was Hulas purchased the aircraft as an investment, to eat up the first 50 orders...he'd then sell those orders for a profit as demand for the aircraft increased.
What he likely didn't see was a potential pilot shortage looming, causing regionals to struggle to attract pilots, and forcing more flying to be done by major carriers...might put him in a position to either accept the orders and keep them on property, or eat a loss (unlikely considering his business success).
He could try to market the airplane to the major airlines, but we all know the likelihood of any success in that arena. If it doesn't say Airbus or Boeing it almost guaranteed to be a non-starter, and if it says E-190/195 it'll be met with opposition too.

Yea they were already trying to predict the need of this plane 5 years into the future and now it's going to be another 3 years possibly before it's delivered. Who knows what things will look like then.

we seem to be pretty well staffed at the moment which is unusual for this place. Other than that I haven't heard anything new.
