The union won't let them hire street captains. It doesn't properly honor seniority.
The CQFO "deal," as you call it, for the first 200 people, will be a really good deal. Why? Because when the music stops, those 200 will be able to hold Captain at their seniority. We aren't sure how it's going to work yet, but there are only 16 FOs eligible for Captain right now. There is a possibility that you can bid and hold Captain before a year is up.

I counted in the last standing bid reward. There were less than 20.

I'm on that list. There are more than 20 in front of me. My bypass pay won't start until 3/6.

I wouldn't go to tsa because of their empty CQFO promise. its so convoluted and arbitrary that they try to blind you with the words "left seat" and captain pay at a "blended rate" LOOK AT CONTRACTS BEFORE YOU COMMIT. Remember go jets is owned by the same company that owns TSA
Jesus Man. It's not that hard to figure out. If you are a CQFO and fly as an FO you'll make $43-$45ish Dollars an Hour. When you fly as a Captain you will make $61ish dollars an hour. The amount you fly as an FO or Captain will fluctuate depending on need. Which at the moment is going to be very high (for Captains). TSA is over staffed on FOs right now. Which means the first few classes of CQFOs will most likely be flying as Captain a lot more than as FOs. It's not a "arbitrary" rate or deal. For most Regional FOs that are looking at 3 years till they upgrade this would be an IMMEDIATE pay increase for them and a significant one at that. The WORST they could do is make $43 an hour. That's the worst. Best case and most likely case is $61 an hour. It's amazing to me how you guys can turn this into a negative thing. Especially in a time when the likes of Mesa, Republic, and SkyWest are hiring pilots at $24 an hour or less.

Also... If/when this initial wave of airplanes is staffed, they are already planning for additional flying coming toward TSA on top of the recent growth.
Ask for my sources, call me full of sh!t, but the last growth I mentioned on here was 30 airplanes for UAL. I was wrong. It turned out to be 36, so take my word for what you want.

Tsa qol is pretty bad as a reservist. Fortunately you won't have to sit reserve long in theory. As of now it is worse qol than lakes. Impressive tsa. I didnt think it was possible.
Pay protection and contract is better of course.

Reserve sucks wherever you go. TSA reserve is better than some, but not the best around. Its an area we hope to improve in the new contract. That being said, it could be a hell of a lot worse than it is. Getting real tired of these FNGs in the crew room whining about reserve. These are the same guys who will be crying they are flying too much this summer when the staffing levels drop so low we cant drop or trade anything.....
