It's been said before, reserve QOL rests more with staffing and whether you live in base or not. And as far as staffing, pilots will always complain. Some reserves can't stand not flying and complain. Others will complain they are being flown too much.
I didn't say there was stellar reserve work in the regionals. Just said that TSA reserve rules are not above average. I could be wrong about that also though because I'm only going off of what people have posted on this thread. And to be honest, XJT's reserve rules are not the best either. AWAC's reserve rules are probably the best. Here are some of XJT's reserve rules:

Minimum guarantee 75 hours
Min 11 days off per 30 day bid period
Min 12 days off per 31 day bid period
Min 14 days off Floating Reserve Line
Minimum of 10% Long Call and Floating Reserve Lines

Airport Standby (4 hours) - paid at 4 hours or trip value, whichever is greater
Cannot be assigned consecutive days of Airport Standby
Cannot be assigned more than 6 days of Airport Standby in a bid month
Short Call Reserve - 2 hour call out
Long Call Reserve - 12 hour call out
Automatically released at 5pm local time on last day of block of reserve days
Automatically released from further duty 15 minutes after blocking in if no assignment on schedule
Aggressive Pick Up Window available everyday
Also able to pick up during Red Flag (critical staffing) for premium pay
The largest block of days off for reserve pilots are immovable

I was just trying to see what "good" regional reserves are like.

Is it possible that someone on here could post a copy of their typical monthly bid to give us indecisive shleps what we could expect working for TSA? Maybe someone even on reserve in Denver? Trying to get an idea of what commuting from SAN may be like if I was to hold it. Are they somewhat flexible whether you were to take early morning or afternoon trips? Fortunately, my kids are out and gone so I'm not tied much to family stuff anymore making things a little more flexible. But I have heard all the nightmares of commuting and relocating isn't an option if I'm going to stay with the wife. Thanks much for your time.

DEN hasn't opened yet, it's slated to open in May right now. I've done the SAN-DEN commute, it's certainly do-able as far As commutes go. Between Southwest, United and Frontier there are plenty of options. The toughest part will be finding commutable trips and being able to hold said trips. The sooner you can start here, the better off you'll be seniority wise in terms of being based where you want and holding better trips!

Hey all....threw in my app on AirlineApps late last week and waiting to hear from TSA. Curious to know how long they take to reach out to people? Have the R ATP mins and think TSA is looking very good as an option. Couple questions being a noob:

How often are training classes for y'all? (recently saw a post that showed a high ratio of CQFOs to FOs)

Approx how long from training to completion of IOE? Does it vary?

Cheers all!

If it was the same when I got hired, they send a bot email. Check your spam folder. Keep calling until someone answers. Get in a class as soon as possible.
