We think we're entitled to more money because...well, we're airline pilots. And for the first time in a long time, pilots are at a premium. Maybe now we can start to get paid what we should be paid. How can people not realize this? This isn't 2008 anymore. Time to wake up.

Then how does the company come up with 1000 now and another 1000 down the line? That's how much I have lost?? People want something tangible. Promises of unicorns when the MRJs arrive doesn't get many people excited.

That shouldn't be your goal. The goal is to get paid more for less work.
Based on an 80 hour line? You could easily get an 85 hour line without sacrificing any QOL. When I was an FO, I never credited less than 100 hours and had between 13-14 days off every month. At that monthly credit, you'd only need to be making $83/hour.

Try again.

So, at first the retention bonus was not enough. Now, because the union managed to negotiate a pot sweetener, you feel like it's too much. I feel like you're one of those idiots that would vote no to any contract no matter how much money you got. Do you think we should strike unless FOs get 100/hour? I bet that's you. Can I get some whatever you're on? It's gotta be hard to be that negative and angry naturally.

That's not what he wrote. He was commenting on the fact that someone said that a signing bonus is for lost wages. Nowhere in his statement did he say it was too much.

Yes. Typically a signing bonus is a "we feel bad for this taking so long so here's some feel good cash" gesture. Remember the company is still trying to sell this to the pilots.

Why would I vote no no matter how much money I got? You need to have your head examined. And you can't read too just like the other guy said. I know what type you are, the guy that folds right away at the first threat from the company. You are shaking in your boots because we lost a few legs from PIT.

Because the company is paying a $10,000 bonus for new hires at Compass and TSA, and $15,000 for Gojet.

If they can pay new guys this, they can do better for guys on property.

Maybe ask for the bonus or threaten to quit? You would think they would honor the bonus for those on property as well. They probably think most won't pack their bags unless they had a better job offer somewhere else first.
