Do you actually know what a signing bonus is? It's almost universally retro pay for being in negotiations for X amount of years. And it's usually 1/% amount of what's actually owed to you. Anyone remember what was owed to them last negotiations? It was a ridiculous sum. Why people are think they are entitled to a signing bonus is beyond me.

I don't know what you're talking about. Based on a 80 hour line a topped out captain here does NOT clear 100k. Yea of course if you throw your qol and sanity away in exchange for min days off and volunteering, you will make more but it doesn't mean it should be done and can be done. That shouldn't be your goal. The goal is to get paid more for less work.
Try again.

So, at first the retention bonus was not enough. Now, because the union managed to negotiate a pot sweetener, you feel like it's too much. I feel like you're one of those idiots that would vote no to any contract no matter how much money you got. Do you think we should strike unless FOs get 100/hour? I bet that's you. Can I get some whatever you're on? It's gotta be hard to be that negative and angry naturally.

Yes. Typically a signing bonus is a "we feel bad for this taking so long so here's some feel good cash" gesture. Remember the company is still trying to sell this to the pilots.

If they can pay new guys this, they can do better for guys on property.

Maybe ask for the bonus or threaten to quit? You would think they would honor the bonus for those on property as well. They probably think most won't pack their bags unless they had a better job offer somewhere else first.
