I will say that going after the AA flying wasn't dumb.
But, going after it as aggressively as they did was dumb!
My reasons for thinking this:
1. AA has been known to screw their regional's pretty hard the past few years (Envoy, PSA, Piedmont) just to get what they want. And for the record, yes in a few of these listed the pilot groups did allow this IMHO. Do you really want to do serious business with a company that is going to treat you badly?
2. UA has been TSA's bread and butter for many years, now they staff AA (the competitor) and turn down UA aircraft. This did not go unnoticed.
3. TSA's on time performance with AA has been pretty crap-tacular. Sure it has been a few minutes late here and there, but that is enough to put them in a bad light.
4. The intangibles- 1. if TSA hadn't ****ed of UA, could we have been given a flow? We will never know. 2. Look at the standing bids, a ton of pilots came to TSA for DEN basing. And look at the rate that these pilots came for DEN. That recruiting tool is gone now.
Of course this is all just my .02c
I feel that if they would have ramped up the AA flying a bit slower than there would not have been these crippling growing pains.

Tsa is there to make money for the owner, it's not there to help Den commuters or to take us all to United with a flow. For new guys, if you're not happy, I would just leave.

They said we are pretty much fully staffed in rdu. They should start ramping up den soon. But I'm not sure if new hires will be able to hold it right away.

Thanks. I expect to be based in RDU initially, but am coming here in part with the hope of DEN in the future. So I was just worried about DEN shrinking

Poem
Thirty one gallons
By Tennessee Ernie Ford
Now, all you wide-body captains have a pretty sweet deal
But in the 145 right seat, you know you’re keeping it real
I fly forty two segments just to hold my line
And get Grandma Jones to Ft. Wayne on time
You empty thirty one gallons, and you get the ground wet
To protect the internals of a rusty old jet
Oh, Delta, don’t you call me, ‘cause I can’t go
Draining tanks of water is my career goal
Now, I trained in some Pipers that were older than time
I dusted crops and towed banners, and I was a CFI
I got my fifteen hundred hours and my ATP too
But my job includes the gate crew’s job too
You empty thirty one gallons, and you get the ground wet
To protect the internals of a rusty old jet
Oh, Delta, don’t you call me, ‘cause I can’t go
Draining tanks of water is my career goal
When the day is all finished, in Dubuque for the night
I go out for the evening, while the slam-clickers hide
When we vote a new contract, just one thing must I know
Can I never again look at that water valve door?
You empty thirty one gallons, and you get the ground wet
To protect the internals of a rusty old jet
Oh, Delta, don’t you call me, ‘cause I can’t go
Draining tanks of water is my career goal
When you’re a new FO, you take abuses in stride
A lot of men did it, and a lot of men sighed
But with nice quick upgrades and hundred hour lines
Pretty soon I’ll leave this outfit behind
You empty thirty one gallons, and you get the ground wet
To protect the internals of a rusty old jet
Oh, Delta, don’t you call me, ‘cause I can’t go
