Default UAL MEC representative recall wave begins

At today's EWR C5 LEC meeting pilots overwhelmingly voted to send out a recall ballot for all three of their representatives. The voting was as follows:

Chairman Glenn Johnson 497/101
Vice Chair Chris McCullough 505/85
Sec Treas Phile Wenzel 462/118

Clearly these reps should do their council a favor and resign, but when that was suggested they seemed to decline.

DEN C33, SFO C34 & IAH C171 pilots appear to also be well-organized and primed to follow suit as soon as their intransigent reps are forced to hold meetings. C34 scheduled a meeting in October, but the meeting is an hour drive from SFO which is predominantly a commuter base.

C5 Resolutions passed:

Fairness in communications. (Both sides of any recall ballot have to have equal comms.)
Recall of LEC Chair (497 to 101)
Recall of LEC Vice (505 to 85)
Recall of S/T (462 to 118)
No confidence in, and recall of, Negotiating committee
No confidence in Mike Hamilton
No confidence in Todd Insler (member of C5)
Public rebuke of, and apology by, Capt Ward due to his repeated infractions of Alpa C&BL.
Restricting the NASC ("the Steering Committee) from its current 11 members back to the 2 recommended in the Alpa manual.

Todd Insler attended the meeting, but did not afford his own council the courtesy of introducing himself or addressing any of the issues other than whether a recall resolution of Bob Ward on the NASC was in order.

Word on the street is he was there using FPL or at least some ALPA funds and if that is the case he would be prohibited by ALPA policy to campaign in any way. I believe most of us would view him addressing the body in any way to be campaigning.

He was on a day off. No FPL. He was free to address the meeting if he chose to do so.

It’s beyond belief that Todd (inflation doesn’t matter) Insler thinks he can be ALPA President.

If line pilots were allowed for vote he wouldn’t get 10% of the United pilots.

Instead he's going to get 90% of the UA vote (ORD will break). Since TI has MH tucked under his sack, he'll be able to wheel and deal with other MEC's to get what few more other votes he needs.None of this recall vote stuff is going to be in time to stop the bullet train to disaster. If you thought TI had disdain for line pilots before, just think of how he feels now that he's been "betrayed". That'll make for some great representation.

If you know someone at another ALPA carrier you need to educate them about TI and all he’s done for you and get them to talk to their reps. That is more important than recalling your own reps as far as the national election is concerned. Only DAL, FDX, JBLU and a smattering of others can put a stop to this.

Houston, we have a problem.

Not to worry, Gentlemen... Therefore be it resolved we'll decertify ALPA contingent on TI's election to the ALPA BOD.

And replace ALPA with SkyWest’s student council model, or other organization without resources?

No thanks

You're personalizing this far too much and drawing the conclusion that ALPA is the enemy. The truth is ALPA is a framework that’s effective only when there’s participation by the members. ALPA is us, we are ALPA and a new union won’t change that reality.

This forum has other airlines on it as well as a union sub forum. Why not post there?
