Well, you may not know this but if a particularly onerous trip comes open, I know that there is a large population of reserve pilots who will pick up a SC to avoid the onerous trip.

I was scheduled for 8 SC's one month and not used on any of them. I subsequently received 6 hours of add pay because of it.

And be careful. When you aggressively pick up short calls, no matter how many, your pay after 5 short calls can be affected. You may work SC or FS for free.

3-C-1-b-(1)-(b)
When a reserve has(5) five unused Short Call and/or Field Standby assignments in a Bid period that were ASSIGNED to him((that is, not picked up), his MPG shall increase by 1(one) hour for each subsequent unused Short Call or FS assignment that is also assigned to him.

So in the first 5 SC or FS assignments you get paid 3 hours of pay. First two free then 1 hour per the next three. In these you may aggressively pick up and be paid, but buyer beware, after five, every one you aggressively picked up in the first five or later counts against you receiving additional money.

If you really want to maximize money in hopes of greater than 5 SC's,
Don't aggressively pick up. Food for thought.

Accurate but it's not being applied right now because IT hasn't yet added the ability to automatically distinguish between an assigned SC and a picked up SC, and they aren't tracking it manually.

And this: I bypassed a SC pickup and then got assigned a 0600 FSB awhile ago. Done with that. I now have a standing Smart Pickup request in Crew Companion to automatically pickup any SC 0600 and later.

No, NOT ADD PAY!

MPG credit.

Most times transparent but not always.

Sorry to point out the fine print.

I wish someone would point out how our pay system works. I have no clue. I believe there are a lot of pilots like me.

I flew one 3 day trip and sat SC 4 times last month. The rest of the month a spent at home with my family sleeping in my own bed.

And I still think the reserve rules need to be fixed........

Exactly, that should have been worth an extra 8 hours for those 4 short calls. FSB should be 5 hours added to MPG for every single one.
