That's great news! We live near Orlando and are tired of commuting. :D

It will open just after PHX. PHX is going to be 737/320/787/777, about 3000 pilots total. Announcement soon. As soon as it is fully staffed expect MCO to be announced.
:)

Care to elaborate?

I think he just about summed it up.....what other details would you like?

Airhoss 03-12-2017 02:52 PM

What about HNL or ANC?

Since you read it on APC it is guarentieed to be factual and true and not false or malicious, it is also perfectly honest and reliable, not untrustworthy or unreliable.

I think ORK is next

HNL is reopening on the next vacancy bid. It will be the mother-load of bids!

Unfortunately, it is a B737 base only. It will have the GUM $3000/mo override. The 747 pilots can't wait to get bumped into it.

Don't rule anything out with Scott Kirby. He's looking under every AA and DL rock out there for opportunities. 757/767 service to MCO from EWR hourly would be insanely profitable. We did it at Eastern and it was one of the few domestic operations, other than the Shuttle, that was consistently in the black. I think other spoke flights to the other hubs could justify a 756 base there. We shall see.

From a friend of a friend, who has a friend in management: SE hub does not make sense for UA because like any legacy - they make most money from business pax who live in the hub area. and as far as connectivity - IAH already serves Latin - so MCO really is just a destination market with a lot of inbound leisure but less outbound business to be found and the kicker - no hometown advantage .. if SWA/ Frontier/ Spirit/ JetBlue announce fare drops great for families - UA has do the same, they can't rely on loyalty // as you can see the aforemention LCCs are competing in a lot in that space - UA is much more interested in challenging rising competition in SFO and DEN than to put significant hub resources into a place that just has amusement parks. - it's not worth the experiment
