I'm guilty of that as well. Just a sucker I suppose.
I remember the last contract go around, not the extension, the actual contract. Late in the game details were leaked which I found repulsive. I shared them with the guy I was flying with and he guffawed at my gullibility. He told me that he had a bud who was tight with the NegoComm and that he'd check on the rumors and set me straight. The next day he regaled me with tales of contractual greatness and how the "warts" I had relayed to him were bogus. But, I chose not to believe him because "The Warts" came to me with a high degree of credibility.
Two weeks later the TA is out and lo and behold, ALL the warts were in there.
Pilots. We're really full of it.

Think that’s why they ended that nonsensical program after its first try. Heard 3 Pilots were hired, 1 was satisfactory the other 2 not so much and each one required extra training.
Why on earth we’d even go there is beyond me but I guess L-UAL did the same thing back in the mid-nineties.

There was no low time CFI to UAL Indoc program in the mid 90’s. That is just flat out BS. There were a couple of lower time interns that were hired as is always the case. The vast majority of applicants that were hired at UAL in the mid 90’s were very well seasoned and experienced.
As usual what you are hearing out on the line should be taken with a grain of salt.

As desirable as UAL was in the ‘90’s, (and it truly was at that time), why hire someone like that?
Your lower time intern comment has me puzzled as well. Did UAL hire that way as common practice and how often did it really happen?
Not throwing any stones just genuinely curious as to the whys and when’s?

The program has been put on hold due to some politics with regards to several CPP regionals crying foul. They want to get their hands on these CFI’s for a year or two before they get to go to UAL. The candidates who have been placed in training have done very well with the exception of one.

It was a long time ago, and I’m sure you are probably correct. But I’m pretty sure I remember a female cfi being hired by us around 94-95ish.
