Excellent points but I can tell you why they are doing this. It’s not to pass up the 10,000hr RJ pilot. Everyone knows he’s going to be better than a CFI. This is an experiment to see if hiring from basically zero time will be viable in the future should the regional applicant pool dry up.
You were single pilot most of the time. But they could push the buttons on the FMC...yipee!

Was it the head of the overall LCA program, or just a particular LCA on a particular fleet type? I would like to see our union look into this particular issue if the facts back up what you stated. It sort of reminds me of how Fred Abbot operated with his "pfriends of pfred" program. Just get done what he wants done via his relationships....

I meant in sometime in their 121 career. Takes a month of line flying to get over that issue

There was a thread on DL where one of their LCAs spoke about training issues. He said the hardest were the 50year old 20 year regional guys (“set in their ways, not used to outside inputs”), followed by military (“always very well prepared, but big change in how things work”). Easiest were the 25 year old 3 year regional FO. I remember this well, as a 50 year old guy who still has(had?) hopes.....

I think I remember that thread but disagree with it and see it as discrimination. In my opinion each person is different and I wouldn’t lump all 20 year regional guys in the same category. I’m in my early 30s and still working on my PPL due to work commitments. It sounds like I might not have a shot at the majors then.
As far as lumping, the guy was comparing similar groups, and drew a general conclusion, he never suggested 50 year olds could not be trained, or every 25 year old was great. That is discrimination in the sense that to discriminate also means “recognition and understanding of the difference between one thing and another.” Is it unfair that companies try to hire the most capable people?
