Talked to some guys who had one of these wonder kids in the jumpseat the other day. 1700 TOTAL time and ZERO turbine time. Yet there is an app stack full of quality mil/regional/corporate guys who can’t get calls.

We’re a year or less from post SLI upgrades in their first left seat at a 121 doubling as CFIs.

Why?

Historically has the wait time for the hiring pool taken much longer? Or more specifically what is the hiring pool?
You've got balls, I'll give you that. Maybe I'm the dumb one who is sticking it out at the regionals after my first year. Good luck

Dude, you need to stop worrying why some got hired and others didn’t.

But it does make for an entertaining thread.

This.

This program is fine once we start running out of qualified candidates but to start it up now, is a gigantic mistake IMHO.

He was an intern. Completely different. You might not like his delivery but he is a unionist.

Just met one of these people the other day, she was very driven, and had a great head on her shoulders. She had a lot to learn, more so than the single pilot fighter guy, but she is getting through better than most in the class. Glad to have her on board and kudos to her.

Yeah.... And Napoleon was a great soldier with some “minor” personality flaws.

I would ask that you not paint with such a broad brush when classifying/demeaning post SLI's and their experience level. All post SLI's don't exactly equal "wonder kids, first left seat, doubling as CFI's, etc..." Just because a post SLI pilot is about to grab a left seat doesn't mean that "cats and dogs are now living together"! Most of us have plenty of 121 experience. As well as 121 left seat, check airman, sim-instructor, etc..... Not everyone below the 2010 SLI line is a low life, inexperienced, silver spoon, wanna be, that you portray in your post above. Granted there are exceptions everywhere and anywhere. But you seem to draw the line just past the SLI. Many of us have more experience than the guy we're slingin' gear and DJ'ing for!

Jeebus. Trigger word much? Need a safe space? Did you miss the part about guys in “their first left seat at a 121?”

It is highly probable, soon, a new Captain in their first few months as a brand new first time Captain may be taking a heavy guppy into LGA in the winter with an FO with zero winter experience in a swept wing turbine powered airplane (and possibly minimal experience at that). If that’s demeaning to you, I don’t want to live on this planet anymore.
